Heart pump providing adjustable outflow
A heart pump is disclosed herein. The heart pump can include a cannula having one or more outlets. An impeller can be positioned in the cannula. The impeller can be configured to pump blood through the outlets along a longitudinal axis when the impeller is rotated at an operational speed. The heart pump can be configured to adjust an effective area of the outlets while the impeller is rotating or to provide relative motion between the cannula and the impeller along the longitudinal axis while the impeller is rotating.
COST FUNCTION FOR RESPONSE ALGORITHM
A controller for an implantable blood pump includes processing circuitry configured to initiate a suction response algorithm if a combination of a number of detected suction events multiplied by a suction event variable and a number of non-suction events multiplied by a non-suction event variable exceed a predetermined threshold.

Adjusting pump protocol based on irregular heart rhythm
The present invention generally relates to heart treatment systems. In some aspects, methods and systems are provided for facilitating communication between implanted devices. For example, an implantable cardiac rhythm management device may be configured to communicate with an implantable blood pump. The implantable cardiac rhythm management device may deliver heart stimulation rate information in addition to information associated with any detected abnormalities in heart function. In response, the pump may be configured to adjust pumping by the pump to better accommodate a patient's particular needs.

ELECTROOSMOTIC PUMP
An electro-osmosis pump system includes an inlet line through which a fluid is introduced, an outlet line through which the fluid is discharged, a first pump disposed between the inlet line and the outlet line and including a first housing in which a first operation fluid is disposed, a second pump disposed in parallel to the first pump between the inlet line and the outlet line and including a second housing in which a second operation fluid disposed, and a power supply configured to supply voltages to the first pump and the second pump. The first pump includes a first membrane, a 1A-th electrode, and a 2A-th electrode, the second pump includes a second membrane, a 1B-th electrode, and a 2B-th electrode, and the power supply supplies the voltage to the 1A-th electrode and the 2A-th electrode, and supplies the voltage to the 1B-th electrode and the 2B-th electrode.
High efficiency blood pump
A blood pump can include a pump housing, an impeller, and a hub. The pump housing can be configured to move blood from an inlet to an outlet thereof. The impeller can be housed in the pump housing, have a plurality of blades joined by a central ring, and be radially supported at the central ring by a bearing. The hub can transmit torque to the impeller using a radial magnetic coupling.
Heat exchanger and oxygenator
A heat exchanger for a blood circulation circuit includes a hollow fiber membrane layer having a plurality of laminated hollow fiber membranes 31. Each of the hollow fiber membranes 31 has a barrier layer 5 having a hydrogen peroxide barrier property, and the barrier layer 5 has an oxygen permeability coefficient of 6 cc.Math.cm/m.sup.2.Math.24 h/atm or less at 25° C.
Blood pressure powered auxiliary pump
Methods and devices for a self-contained device including a hydraulic motor and a hydraulic pump. Preferably, the motor is incorporated either within the interior of the pump, on the exterior of the pump, or a combination of the two. The pump increases the kinetic energy of the fluid by centrifugal means, and in some embodiments is a viscous impeller pump. Applications include building flow systems, industrial processes, and biological circulatory systems.
