An exterior wall or roof of a building comprises an inner sheathing member having an exterior facing surface, an outer building material installed adjacent and covering the exterior facing surface of the inner sheathing member, and a spacer secured between the inner sheathing member and the outer building material. The spacer is a continuous length of material formed by at least a first parallel set of ribs extending diagonally relative to a second parallel set of ribs thereby forming an openwork lattice structure. The first set of ribs forms a front face of the material, the second set or additional set of ribs forms a rear face of the material, and the first and second set of ribs are interconnected intermediate of the front and rear faces. Each of the first and second set of ribs extend diagonally relative to horizontal and vertical directions within the wall or roof.

The bottom element has two lateral walls, a second tongue extending out from one of the two lateral walls, and a second shelf connecting the two lateral walls and having a second opening for the adjustment bolt. The first shelf and the second shelf are connected to each other. The base profile is received in a space defined by the two lateral walls. The first tongue and the second tongue form an angle, and are received in respective installation grooves on a non-visible side of the cladding panel.

An anchor-free system for fastening cladding panels is composed of a two-element hanger. An upper element of the hanger is connected with a bottom element of the hanger. The contact area of this connection forms a shelf. There is an opening to accommodate an adjustment bolt. The upper element of the hanger has the form of a vertical wall closed in the bottom with a horizontal or inclined shelf having openings for screws. The vertical wall of the upper element of the hanger has a tongue located at an angle relative to the vertical wall of the upper element of the hanger. The bottom element of the hanger has the form of two vertical walls connected in the top with a horizontal or inclined shelf having openings for the screws. The vertical wall of the bottom element makes a hitch for the base profile of an installation substructure.
