A housing assembly has: a rotor housing extending around a rotation axis and from a first side to a second side, and having an inner face; a housing secured to the first side; and a seal received within a groove at an interface between the rotor housing and the housing, the groove extending around a perimeter of the first side and located radially outwardly of the inner face, the seal including: an elastomeric member; and a shield disposed inwardly of the elastomeric member and in contact with both the housing and the rotor housing, the shield including a thermoset plastic member extending along at least a portion of a perimeter of the groove and axially overlapping the elastomeric member, the thermoset plastic member circumferentially overlapping a combustion region of the rotor cavity where combustion occurs during operation of the rotary internal combustion engine.

A sealing gasket (20) for a vacuum pump comprising: a first sealing member (22) defining a closed shape (preferably a rounded square or rounded rectangle) and comprising: a first surface (30); a second surface (32) opposite the first surface (30); a first inner surface (34); and a first outer surface (36) opposite to the first inner surface (34), wherein the first inner surface (34) and the first outer surface (36) are disposed between the first surface (30) and the second surface (32); a second sealing member (24) defining a closed shape (preferably a rounded square) and comprising: a third surface (40); a fourth surface (42) opposite the third surface (40); a second inner surface (44); and a second outer surface (46) opposite to the second inner surface (44), wherein the second inner surface (44) and the second outer surface (46) are disposed between the third surface (40) and the fourth surface (42); a first longitudinal sealing member (26) connected between the first outer surface (36) and the second outer surface (46); and a second longitudinal sealing member (28) connected between the first outer surface (36) and the second outer surface (46).

Provided are a combined sealing piece, a volumetric machine and a wide fuel engine using the combined sealing piece. The combined sealing piece includes a slider with a main sealing piece. The combined sealing piece further includes at least one auxiliary sealing piece, a first auxiliary sealing piece is backed against the slider or leans against the main sealing piece and the slider at the same time, and an elastic member is disposed between the first auxiliary sealing piece and the slider.
