Internal bearing plate for gearmotor assembly
A motor includes a housing, a shaft, a bearing, a bearing plate, and a seal. The housing includes first and second housing components directly engaging one another along a housing interface. The housing at least in part defines a sealed chamber. The shaft is at least in part received in the chamber. The bearing rotatably supports the shaft. The bearing plate is enclosed within the housing. The bearing plate supports the bearing within the housing. The seal is disposed along the housing interface. The bearing plate is spaced inwardly from the housing interface and the seal.
APEX SEAL ARRANGEMENT FOR ROTARY INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A rotor assembly for a rotary internal combustion engine is provided. The rotor assembly includes a rotor having a radial groove defined radially in a peripheral surface of the rotor. The groove has a depth and an intermediate shoulder at an intermediate depth. The groove has a first width therealong that is narrower than an intermediate width at the shoulder. An apex seal is received in the groove and protrudes from the peripheral face of the rotor. The apex seal is configured to move radially between a first position and a second position outward of the first position. A biasing member biases the apex seal toward the second position. A platform is disposed in the groove between the apex seal and the biasing member and has a width greater than the first width.
APEX SEAL ARRANGEMENT FOR ROTARY INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A rotor assembly for a rotary internal combustion engine is provided. The rotor assembly includes a rotor having a radial groove defined radially in a peripheral surface of the rotor. The groove has a depth and an intermediate shoulder at an intermediate depth. The groove has a first width therealong that is narrower than an intermediate width at the shoulder. An apex seal is received in the groove and protrudes from the peripheral face of the rotor. The apex seal is configured to move radially between a first position and a second position outward of the first position. A biasing member biases the apex seal toward the second position. A platform is disposed in the groove between the apex seal and the biasing member and has a width greater than the first width.
SURFACE TEXTURE AND GROOVE DESIGNS FOR SLIDING CONTACTS
A sliding contact assembly includes a first surface and a second surface. The second surface of the sliding contact assembly is configured to slide over the first surface, and at least a portion of the second surface contacts the first surface to form at an interface between the first surface and the second surface. The sliding contact assembly also includes a plurality of textures on the portion of the second surface that contacts the first surface. A density of the plurality of textures is not uniform over the portion of the second surface that contacts the first surface. The sliding contact assembly can include apex seal to housing interfaces in rotary engines, roller to roller interfaces, roller to housing interfaces, bearing to surface interfaces, etc.
SURFACE TEXTURE AND GROOVE DESIGNS FOR SLIDING CONTACTS
A sliding contact assembly includes a first surface and a second surface. The second surface of the sliding contact assembly is configured to slide over the first surface, and at least a portion of the second surface contacts the first surface to form at an interface between the first surface and the second surface. The sliding contact assembly also includes a plurality of textures on the portion of the second surface that contacts the first surface. A density of the plurality of textures is not uniform over the portion of the second surface that contacts the first surface. The sliding contact assembly can include apex seal to housing interfaces in rotary engines, roller to roller interfaces, roller to housing interfaces, bearing to surface interfaces, etc.
PROGRESSING CAVITY DEVICE WITH CUTTER DISKS
A stator for a helical gear device includes a first section having first helically convoluted chamber with a set of radially inwardly extending lobes and a second section adjacent to the first section. The second section includes a stack of cutter disks. Each cutter disk includes a front surface, a rear surface, an interior surface defining a central opening extending from the front surface to the rear surface, a forward cutting edge, and a rearward cutting edge. The interior surface forms a same number of lobes for the central opening as the set of radially inwardly extending lobes in the first section. Each cutter disk is aligned along a common centerline, and each cutter disk is rotated slightly relative to each other to form a second helically convoluted chamber with a same pitch as the first helically convoluted chamber. The second helically convoluted chamber exposes, to materials passing through, portions of the forward cutting edge or the rearward cutting edge of each cutter disk.
Rotary Engine Rotor
A rotary engine rotor (10) comprising three rotor flanks (12) arranged in a generally equilateral triangle shape, each rotor flank (12) having a leading edge (16) and a trailing edge (17), an elongate lip (21) being provided on the leading edge (16) of at least one of the rotor flanks (12), the elongate lip (21) extending the full axial length of the rotor flank (12). In another aspect, at least one rotor flank (12) comprises a cavity having a leading edge and a trailing edge, and at least a portion of the base of the cavity proximal to a trailing edge thereof is curved outwardly.

Rotary vane device with longitudinally extending seals
A rotary device includes a shaft, a rotor coupled to the shaft, and a stator having a cam surface. Vanes reside within slots of the rotary device and engage with the cam surface. A first seal couples to the rotor and includes first grooves that extend in a direction substantially parallel to a rotational axis of the shaft. A second seal couples to the stator and includes second grooves extending in the direction substantially parallel to the rotational axis. A third seal couples to the rotor and includes third grooves extending in the direction substantially parallel to the rotational axis. A fourth seal couples to the stator and includes fourth grooves extending in the direction substantially parallel to the rotational axis. The first grooves and the second grooves, as well as the third grooves and the fourth grooves, from labyrinth seals for the chambers of the rotary device.
