Provided is a gear pump or a motor provided with: a casing internally provided with a gear housing compartment in which a pair of gears are housed; a side plate interposed between the casing and the gears; and a gasket which is disposed on a non-slide surface, and which divides a space between the non-slide surface and the casing into a high pressure side and a low pressure side. The gear pump or the motor is configured such that, in order to discover early the mounting of the side plate in a wrong attitude, such as the upper and lower sides thereof being reversed or the high pressure portion side and the low pressure portion side being reversed, flow rate efficiency is decreased when the side plate is in an attitude other than a predetermined attitude, compared to when the side plate is in the predetermined attitude.

Rotary internal combustion engine with pilot subchamber

A rotary engine having an insert in a peripheral wall of the stator body, the insert being made of a material having a greater heat resistance than that of the peripheral wall, having a subchamber defined therein and having an inner surface, the subchamber communicating with the cavity through at least one opening defined in the inner surface and having a shape forming a reduced cross-section adjacent the opening, a pilot fuel injector having a tip received in the subchamber, an ignition element having a tip received in the subchamber, and a main fuel injector extending through the stator body and having a tip communicating with the cavity at a location spaced apart from the insert. The subchamber has a volume corresponding to from 5% to 25% of a sum of the minimum volume and the volume of the subchamber. A method of injecting heavy fuel into a Wankel engine is also discussed.

A pneumatic engine includes first and second pneumatic motors. Each motor has a stator, a rotor, and a gas flow path. The rotor is rotatably connected to the stator. The gas flow path is defined at least in part by the stator and the rotor, and extends from a gas inlet to a terminal gas outlet. The gas flow path has an expansion portion extending between the gas inlet and an intermediate gas outlet, and a compression portion extending between the intermediate gas outlet and the terminal gas outlet. The terminal gas outlet of the first pneumatic motor is fluidly connected upstream of the gas inlet of the second pneumatic motor.

A compound engine system includes a rotary engine with rotating chambers, a compressor section in successive communication with the rotating chambers, and a turbine section in successive communication with the rotating chambers. The turbine section has an output shaft. The output shaft and the engine shaft are drivingly engaged to each other and wherein the turbine section has a power output corresponding to from 20% to 35% of a total power output of the compound engine system. A method of compounding power in a compound engine system is also discussed.

Reversing mechanism for a power tool

A reversing mechanism for a pneumatically or hydraulically powered tool having a rotor adapted to rotate in either of first and second rotational directions. The reversing mechanism allows a user to actuate a button and rotate a valve to direct air flow through the tool. By pressing the button, the button will move a base laterally, and in doing so, rotates the valve. Rotating the valve then aligns a barrier of the valve in a direction tangential to the selected rotational direction of the tool, better directing forced air or fluid and more efficiently distributing the air or fluid in the selected rotational direction.
