20240141789 · 2024-05-02 ·

A rotational engine system comprises a rotational engine and a propulsion system. The rotational engine includes an outer ring enclosure, an inner ring component, and a drive gear. The inner ring component includes a piston and a drive gear engagement portion. The piston is configured to travel within the outer ring enclosure along a circumference of the outer ring enclosure. The drive gear engagement portion is configured to rotate as the piston travels along the circumference of the circular shape of the outer ring enclosure. The drive gear is coupled to the drive gear engagement portion of the inner ring component such that rotation of the drive gear engagement portion rotationally drives the drive gear. The propulsion system is configured to deliver propulsive energy to propel the piston along the circumference of the outer ring enclosure.

A method and system is provided for pressure balancing one or more seals in machines such as expanders and/or compressors using the process fluid which is being expanded or compressed to provide the pressure for pressure balancing the other side of the one or more seals. The one or more seals may be part of a pressure containing chamber which may comprise a seal, a bearing and/or a gear on a rotating shaft common to the seal. An amount of pressure to be supplied to housing(s) for a machine so as to create a pressure cascade, and thereby dropping the pressure in each subsequent chamber as pressure approaches atmosphere. Pressure differentials may be directed to leak process fluid to the chamber into the process. Pressurized lube oil systems may be employed for balancing pressure and delivering lubricant to the seals, bearings and gears.

Scroll fluid machine with improved reliability and performance of components thereof

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a scroll fluid machine, the reliability of which is ensured and which can be manufactured with high productivity. The present invention provides a scroll fluid machine comprising: a stationary scroll having a spiral wrap upstanding therefrom; an orbiting scroll provided facing the stationary scroll and orbiting; a casing provided outside the orbiting scroll; a drive shaft for causing the orbiting scroll to orbit; an orbiting bearing for transmitting the rotational movement of the drive shaft to the orbiting scroll; and a plurality of rotation prevention mechanisms for preventing the orbiting scroll from rotating. The scroll fluid machine is characterized in that: the rotation prevention mechanisms have crankshafts and also have crank bearings for supporting the crankshafts; and the gap between each of the crankshafts and the corresponding one of the crank bearings is set to be greater than the gap between the drive shaft and the orbiting bearing.

Progressive cavity based control system

A technique facilitates control over the actuation of a device by utilizing a rotor and a corresponding stator system. The technique employs a rotor and a corresponding stator component in a progressive cavity type system. The rotor and corresponding stator component are mounted such that rotational and/or axial motion may be imparted to at least one of the rotor or stator components relative to the other component. The controlled rotation may be utilized in providing controlled motion of an actuated device via the power of fluid moving through the progressive cavity type system.
