This invention provides ventilators that provide superior air-oxygen mixing and gas delivery. The ventilators that supply a gas mixture to the lungs of a subject. The gas mixture comprises a first gas (e.g. oxygen) and a second gas (e.g. ambient air). The ventilators comprise a first gas inlet, a second gas inlet, flow modulator of the first gas, a flow modulator of the second gas, a junction configured to mix the first gas and the second gas, a patient interface configured to deliver the gas mixture to a subject, a pressure sensor, a plurality of flow sensors comprising at least a first flow sensor and a second flow sensor, and at least one controller configured for obtaining data from the pressure sensor and flow sensors and controlling the flow modulators to provide a gas mixture having a target pressure and a target oxygen content.

The invention relates to a two-stage method for recovering halogenated hydrocarbons. In a desorption step, steam is passed through an adsorbent comprising adsorbed halogenated hydrocarbons, which produces a secondary flow volume containing halogenated hydrocarbons. The secondary flow volume is converted into a condensate containing halogenated hydrocarbons and water by cooling, from which condensate the halogenated hydrocarbons are separated. In a sterilisation step that precedes the desorption step, the adsorbent comprising adsorbed halogenated hydrocarbons is brought into contact with steam for at least 10 minutes at a temperature of more than 120° C. and at a pressure between 0.15 MPa and 0.4 MPa.

Systems and methods for establishing a nerve block

A nerve cuff for establishing a nerve block on a nerve can have a cuff body with a channel for receiving a nerve, a reservoir for holding a drug, and an elongate opening slit extending the length of the cuff body that can be opened to provide access to the channel and can be closed to enclose the cuff body around the nerve. The nerve cuff can also include an electrode for detecting and measuring electrical signals generated by the nerve. A controller can be used to control delivery of the drug based on the electrical signals generated by the nerve.
