Systems and methods for vanadium corrosion inhibitors
A system includes a turbine combustor and one or more supply circuits configured to supply one or more fluids to the turbine combustor. The one or more supply circuits include at least a liquid fuel supply circuit fluidly coupled to a liquid fuel source and configured to supply a liquid fuel from the liquid fuel source to the turbine combustor. The system also includes a corrosion inhibitor injection system including a magnesium source storing a magnesium-based inhibitor that includes magnesium oxide (MgO) and an yttrium source storing an yttrium-based inhibitor that includes yttrium oxide (Y.sub.2O.sub.3). The corrosion inhibitor injection system is fluidly coupled to the turbine combustor and the one or more supply circuits, and is configured to inject the magnesium-based inhibitor and the yttrium-based inhibitor as vanadium corrosion inhibitors into the turbine combustor or the one or more supply circuits.
TURBINE IMPELLER
A turbine impeller includes: a base material which contains aluminum as a main element; and an anti-erosion coating which covers a surface of the base material. Accordingly, since liquid droplets hit the anti-erosion coating before the base material even when the liquid droplets flow into the rotating turbine impeller, the damage to the base material due to erosion is suppressed.
Integrated fuel pump and control preservation system
A portable fuel preservation system is disclosed. The portable fuel preservation system may comprise a switch box configured to be coupled to an integrated fuel pump and control of a gas turbine engine. The switch box may comprise a circuit configured to cause a metering valve and a solenoid valve of the integrated fuel pump and control to open. A driver may be configured to inject preservation fluid into the integrated fuel pump and control.
Cold Spray Repair of Engine Components
A method is provided for adding material to a turbine engine component. The method includes cold spraying a powder towards a region of the component to form a deposit on the region of the component, the component being formed of a parent material, the parent material being a superalloy or a titanium alloy and defining a parent material property value, and the deposit defining a deposit material property value equal to at least fifty percent of the parent material property.
Multilayer environmental barrier coating
An article includes a substrate, a bond coat on the substrate, and a multilayer environmental barrier coating (EBC) on the bond coat. The multilayer EBC includes a first EBC layer defining a first thickness and a second EBC layer defining a second thickness. The first EBC layer includes a first rare earth disilicate and a first concentration of a sintering aid that includes alumina. The second EBC layer includes a second rare earth disilicate and a second concentration of the sintering aid that includes alumina, less than the first concentration of the sintering aid.
SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR SELECTIVE CLEANING OF TURBINE ENGINE COMPONENTS
System for selectively contacting a cleaning composition with a surface of a turbine engine component is presented. The system includes a cleaning apparatus and a manifold assembly. The cleaning apparatus includes an upper portion and a lower portion defining a cleaning chamber configured to allow selective contact between the cleaning composition and a surface of the first portion of the turbine engine component. The upper portion includes a plurality of fill holes in fluid communication with the cleaning chamber, and the lower portion includes a plurality of drain holes in fluid communication with the cleaning chamber. The manifold assembly is configured to selectively circulate the cleaning composition from a reservoir to the cleaning chamber via the plurality of fill holes, and recirculate the cleaning composition from the cleaning chamber to the reservoir via the plurality of drain holes. Methods for selectively cleaning a turbine engine component is also presented.
Coating for a nickel-base superalloy
An arrangement comprising a component (203) adjacent to a ceramic matrix composite in a gas turbine engine is shown. The component comprises a nickel-base superalloy substrate (301) and a cobalt-modified beta-nickel-aluminide coating (302) on the substrate to prevent interdiffusion between the substrate and the ceramic matrix composite. The substrate is coated by depositing a cobalt layer on the substrate, depositing an aluminium layer on the cobalt layer and then forming a cobalt-modified beta nickel aluminide coating.
METHODS FOR DEPOSITING ANTI-COKING PROTECTIVE COATINGS ON AEROSPACE COMPONENTS
Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to protective coatings on an aerospace component and methods for depositing the protective coatings. The protective coating can be anti-coking coatings to reduce or suppress coke formation when the aerospace component is heated in the presence of a fuel. In one or more embodiments, a method for depositing the protective coating on an aerospace component includes exposing the aerospace component to a cleaning process to produce a cleaned surface on the aerospace component and sequentially exposing the aerospace component to a precursor and a reactant to form a protective coating on the cleaned surface of the aerospace component by an atomic layer deposition (ALD) process. The aerospace component can be one or more of a fuel nozzle, a combustor liner, a combustor shield, a heat exchanger, a fuel line, a fuel valve, or any combination thereof.
