BLOOD-SEPARATING DEVICE
A device for separating blood into a plurality of blood components by centrifugal force includes a first chamber for receiving a blood bag filled with blood to be separated. Each separated blood component is located in a separate portion of the blood bag according to its specific weight. A second chamber receives at least one component bag to be filled with a blood component. The component bag has an inlet opening connected to an outlet opening of the blood bag by a line that has a controllable valve. A displacement body in the first chamber exerts a pressing force onto the blood bag. A control unit opens the valve until a blood component passes into the component bag as a result of the pressing force. The displacement body generates the pressing force with the aid of the centrifugal force and/or with the aid of a spring force.
BLOOD PERFUSION DEVICE
The present invention relates to various methods of treatment using a novel blood perfusion device. The blood perfusion device comprises a perfusion chamber comprising at least one compartment A and at least one compartment B, compartment A comprising a first opening which is in direct fluid communication to a second opening, wherein the first opening of compartment A is in direct fluid communication to a first port of the perfusion chamber and the second opening of compartment A is in direct fluid communication to a second port of the perfusion chamber; and compartment B comprising a first opening which is in direct fluid communication to a second opening, wherein the first opening of compartment B is in direct fluid communication to a third port of the perfusion chamber and the second opening of compartment B is in direct fluid communication to a fourth port of the perfusion chamber, wherein compartment A is separated from compartment B by at least one membrane, said membrane being configured to prevent cells from crossing the membrane.
INTRAVENOUS CATHETER SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An intravenous (IV) catheter system may include a catheter adapter having a proximal end and a distal end. The IV catheter system may also include a cannula extending through the catheter adapter. A proximal end of the cannula may include a notch. The IV catheter system may also include a needle hub, which may be coupled to the proximal end of the catheter adapter. The needle hub may include a flashback chamber, which may be in fluid communication with the notch when the IV catheter system is in an insertion configuration.
TREATING COVID-19 UTILIZING EXTRACORPOREAL RADIOFREQUENCY
An embodiment provides a method for treating a body fluid of a patient with Covid-19, including: removing the body fluid from a patient, wherein the body fluid comprises a Covid-19 targeted pathogenic antigen (TPA); applying a treatment to the body fluid, wherein the treatment comprises an antibody that joins with the Covid-19 targeted pathogenic antigen in the body fluid to form an antibody-TPA complex, wherein the antibody comprises a radiofrequency absorption enhancer forming an antibody-radio frequency enhancing moiety-virion complex (ARFVC); removing the ARFVC from the body fluid using a radiofrequency source; and returning the body fluid to the patient. Other aspects are described and claimed.
CRYSTALLIZED OXALATE DECARBOXYLASE AND METHODS OF USE
Oxalate decarboxylase crystals, including stabilized crystals, such as cross-linked crystals of oxalate decarboxylase, are disclosed. Methods to treat a disorder associated with elevated oxalate concentration using oxalate decarboxylase crystals are also disclosed. Additionally disclosed are methods of producing protein crystals.
Vascular Access System with Flow Restriction Device
A vascular access system includes a catheter adapter having a body and a catheter configured to be inserted into a patient's vasculature, with the body having a distal end and a proximal end positioned opposite the distal end, and a blood collection device in fluid communication with the catheter. The blood collection device including a flow restriction device configured to reduce a blood collection flow rate to be equal to or less than a blood supply flow rate of a patient's blood vessel.
BIOLOGICAL FLUID PURIFICATION WITH BIOCOMPATIBLE MEMBRANES
Disclosed are apparatus and methods for blood and other biological fluid purification using a membrane with cell containing vascular channel systems and filtration channel systems. Also disclosed are methods of making the apparatus as well as methods of making membranes.
ASPIRATION CONTROL VALVE
An aspiration control device can have an aspiration control valve and a switch, button, slider, trigger, grip, lever, rotating wheel, rotating valve, handle or other interface for resizing the aspiration control valve. The aspiration control interface can be conveniently positioned and configured to be manipulated while simultaneously stabilizing a catheter and/or retracting an elongated member. The aspiration control device can be integrated with a hemostasis valve, integrated with a wire gripping device, and/or attached to an inlet, outlet, hose, pump, or syringe in series with an aspiration flow path.
Neuraxial connector
Described is a medical adapter assembly comprising an end including a neuraxial fitting that is not directly connectable to a standard luer fitting, an opposing end including a fitting connectable to an intravenous medical device, and a check valve that allows fluid flow from the end with the standard luer fitting to the end with the neuraxial fitting, but prevents fluid flow from the end with the neuraxial fitting to the end with the standard luer fitting. Methods of using the medical adapter assembly and kits containing the medical adapter assembly are also described.
Antithrombogenic hollow fiber membranes and filters
The invention relates to extracorporeal blood circuits, and components thereof (e.g., hollow fiber membranes, potted bundles, and blood tubing), including 0.005% to 10% (w/w) surface modifying macromolecule. The extracorporeal blood circuits have an antithrombogenic surface and can be used in hemofiltration, hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration, hemoconcentration, blood oxygenation, and related uses.
