Combined cycle power plant with flue gas recirculation
An exemplary method for the operation of a CCPP with flue gas recirculation to reduce NOx emissions and/or to increase the CO2 concentration in the flue gases to facilitate CO2 capture from the flue gases as well as a plant designed to operate is disclosed. To allow a high flue gas recirculation ration (rFRG) an imposed combustion inhomogeneity ratio (ri) is used for flame stabilization. The imposed combustion inhomogeneity ratio (ri) is controlled as function of the flue gas recirculation rate (rFRG) and/or combustion pressure. Oxygen or oxygen enriched air to the gas turbine inlet gases or to the combustor is admixed to enhance operatability.

Sealing systems for turboexpanders for use in organic Rankine cycles
Methods and systems for controlling infiltration of ambient air into, and exfiltration of process gas out of, an organic Rankine system. A system comprises a first sealing mechanism configured to seal at least one shaft against exfiltration of a process gas when the turbomachine is operating. The system further comprises a second sealing mechanism configured to seal the at least one shaft against infiltration of ambient air when the system is in a standstill mode. The system further comprises one or more pressure sensors configured to detect a pressure of gas within the system to monitor whether infiltration of ambient air has occurred and a system purge is needed.

Power recovery from quench and dilution vapor streams
A process for reducing pressure of a vapor stream used for reducing a temperature or pressure in a reactor. A pressure of a vapor stream is reduced with a turbine to provide a lower pressure vapor stream. The vapor stream rotates a turbine wheel within the turbine. The turbine wheel is configured to transmit rotational movement to an electrical generator. Thus, electricity is generated with the turbine. The lower pressure vapor stream is injected into a reactor and reduces a temperature in the reactor or reduces a partial pressure of a hydrocarbon vapor in the reactor.

Chain drag system for treatment of carbaneous waste feedstock and method for the use thereof
A drag chain carbonizer is provided with a system and methods for anaerobic thermal transformation processing to convert waste into various solid carbonized products and varied further co-products. The drag-chain carbonizer includes an adjustable bed depth mechanism, a heating mechanism, a pressure management mechanism, and a chain tensioning mechanism containing at least one position sensor for communication of an actuator position to at least one programmable logic controller (PLC). Carbonaceous waste is transformed into useful co-products that can be re-introduced into the stream of commerce at various economically advantageous points. Depending upon the input materials and the parameters selected to process the waste, including real time economic and other market parameters, the system adjusts co-products output to reflect changing market conditions.

Method for operating a solar installation
Method for operating a solar installation. The solar installation includes a solar field with direct evaporation accompanied by the generation of superheated live steam, a turbine for expanding the live steam, and a generator driven by the turbine for generating electrical energy. At least one valve is associated with the turbine by which the amount of live steam fed to the turbine is adjusted. The valve, or each valve, through which the amount of live steam fed to the turbine is adjusted such that an actual value of a live steam pressure occurring upstream of the turbine follows a reference value determined depending on a live steam temperature of the live steam upstream of the turbine.
