A valve actuation system comprises a valve actuation motion source configured to provide main and auxiliary valve actuation motions for actuating at least one engine valve via a valve actuation load path. A lost motion subtracting mechanism is arranged in a valve bridge and configured, in a first default operating state, to convey at least the main valve actuation motion and configured, in a first activated state, to lose the main valve actuation motion and the auxiliary valve actuation motion. Additionally, a lost motion adding mechanism is arranged in a rocker arm and configured, in a second default operating state, to lose the auxiliary valve actuation motion and configured, in a second activated state, to convey the auxiliary valve actuation motion, wherein the lost motion adding mechanism is parallel with the lost motion subtracting mechanism in the valve actuation load path at least during the second activated state.

An engine brake rocker arm assembly is operable in an engine drive mode and an engine braking mode and selectively opens first and second exhaust valves. The engine brake rocker arm assembly includes an exhaust rocker arm configured to rotate about a rocker shaft, an engine brake capsule assembly movable between (i) a locked position configured to perform an engine braking operation, and (ii) an unlocked position that does not perform the engine braking operation, and a hydraulically controlled actuator assembly configured to selectively move the engine brake capsule assembly between the first and second positions.

An oil passage switching valve suitable for a valve timing changing apparatus includes: a valve body, opening or closing an oil passage of operating oil; an urging spring, urging to position the valve body to a position corresponding to the retard position in a pause state; and a switching element, positioning the valve body to a position corresponding to the retard position when a state quantity of the operating oil is in a first range, and switching a position of the valve body in response to the state quantity (pressure or temperature) of the operating oil while resisting an urging force of the urging spring to position the valve body to a position corresponding to the advance position when the state quantity of the operating oil is in a second range greater than the first range.
Castellation mechanism with reverse reset
A rocker arm assembly operable in an engine drive mode and at least one of a late intake valve closing (LIVC) mode and an internal exhaust gas recirculation (iEGR) mode, the rocker arm assembly selectively opening first and second engine valves. The rocker arm assembly includes a rocker arm configured to rotate about a rocker shaft, and a reverse reset capsule assembly movable between (i) a locked position configured to perform one of an LIVC operation and an iEGR operation, and (ii) an unlocked position that does not perform the LIVC operation or the iEGR operation. An actuator assembly is configured to selectively move the reverse reset capsule assembly between the locked and unlocked positions.

Hydraulic lash assembly and valvetrain implementing same
A hydraulic lash assembly (HLA) for use in a valvetrain. The HLA preferably includes a first arm configured to transition a valve between a closed orientation and an open orientation. The first arm can include an engagement surface to receive a driving force from a timing member and to cause the valve to transition to the open orientation for a predetermined period. The HLA further preferably includes a second arm to receive a holding force from an actuator and a pivot section to couple to the first arm and displace the first arm based on the holding force from the actuator. Preferably, the first arm and the second arm form a lever arrangement whereby the pivot section of the second arm underlies and supports the first arm and allows for rotational movement of the first arm that is independent from the second arm.
