GRIPPER SLEEVE FOR URINARY CATHETER
An enhanced tubular sleeve for handling a urinary catheter including a number of features that render usage of urinary catheters much easier and reduce discomfort. The sleeve may be formed of bonded sheets of flexible material having rounded distal ends. Or, the sheets may only be bonded in a proximal portion with their distal portions left unattached. In still another version the distal end of one sheet terminates shorter than the distal end of the other sheet.
Urinary Catheter-Insertion Kits
Urinary catheter-insertion kits can include an upper tray fixed to a lower tray and a separator wall positioned over at least a portion of the urinary catheter assembly. The upper tray can include a preformed catheter section configured to accommodate a urinary catheter of a urinary catheter assembly, and a cutout formed through an end portion of the catheter section. A drainage system of the urinary catheter assembly can be disposed in the lower tray, the drainage system including drainage tubing and a drainage receptacle. The drainage tubing can be connected to the urinary catheter through the cutout in the catheter section of the upper tray. Methods of urinary catheterization include use of the urinary catheter-insertion kits.
Urine collecting bag
A urinary collecting bag comprising a bag part configured for being collapsed in a storage configuration and for being unfolded in a use configuration. A first attachment part and a second attachment part comprise cooperating coupling means which couple first and second attachment parts together in the collapsed storage configuration of the bag part. In the unfolded use configuration of the bag part; the first and second attachment parts are disconnected at said coupling means. A urinary catheter assembly comprising the urinary collecting bag and a urinary catheter is also provided.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR RECEIVING DISCHARGED URINE
A system suitable for collecting and transporting urine away from the body of a person or animal may include an assembly having a fluid impermeable casing, a fluid permeable membrane, and a fluid permeable support. A reservoir is defined by the fluid permeable support. The fluid permeable membrane can define a cavity. The casing can define an opening such that the cavity is accessible via the opening. The assembly can also include an outlet in fluidic communication with the reservoir. The assembly can be arranged such that a user's penis can be disposed through the opening with the urethral opening disposed within the cavity and such that a fluid can flow into the body from the urethral opening of the user's penis, collect in the reservoir, and flow out of the outlet.
Devices and Methods for Urine Collection
A device for collecting urine discharged from a body of a user includes a fluid collection assembly having at least one layer for drawing urine discharged from the body into an interior cavity, an external covering that covers a portion of the at least one layer, and at least one fenestration for receiving urine, wherein the fenestration is a portion of the fluid collection assembly that is uncovered by the external covering. The device further includes a cap enclosing a first end of the assembly, a tube having a first end in fluid communication with the cap, and a shape retaining element configured to conform the assembly to a curved configuration and maintain the curved configuration until the configuration is adjusted. The assembly is configured to be disposed against the body of the user, with the at least one fenestration in operative relation with a urethral opening of the user.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR RECEIVING DISCHARGED URINE
A system suitable for collecting and transporting urine away from the body of a person or animal may include an assembly having a fluid impermeable casing having a fluid reservoir at a first end, a fluid outlet at a second end, and a longitudinally extending fluid impermeable layer coupled to the fluid reservoir and the fluid outlet and defining a longitudinally elongated opening between the reservoir and the outlet. The assembly can further include a fluid permeable support disposed within the casing with a portion extending across the elongated opening, and a fluid permeable membrane disposed on the support and covering at least the portion of the support that extends across the elongated opening, so that the membrane is supported on the support and disposed across the elongated opening. The assembly can further include a tube having a first end disposed in the reservoir and a second, fluid discharge end.
Self-intermittent urinary catheter extension with infection detection, a catheter assembly having an extension with infection detection and a catheter assembly having infection detection
An extension assembly for a catheter having an extension tube, an extension connector and an indicator assembly. The extension tube has a proximal end and a distal end, and, an inner bore. The extension connector has a body with a central bore, with the proximal end of the extension tube coupled to a first end of the body. The extension connector further includes a slot in the body defined by lower end wall and upstanding walls extending therefrom, terminating at an upper opening. A radial passage extends from the central bore to the at least one slot. The indicator assembly has an indicator that is structurally configured to change color in the presence of a chemical indicative of a bladder infection. A wicking member is in fluid communication with the radial passage and the indicator, with the wicking member being positioned between the radial passage and the indicator.
Self-intermittent urinary catheter extension with infection detection, a catheter assembly having an extension with infection detection and a catheter assembly having infection detection
An extension assembly for a catheter comprises an extension tube, an extension connector, and an indicator assembly. The extension tube has a proximal end and a distal end. The extension tube further has an inner bore and an opening placing an interior of the extension tube in fluid communication with an exterior of the extension tube. The extension connector is coupled to the proximal end of the extension tube. The indicator assembly is comprised of a sealing member, a wicking member, and an indicator. The sealing member including a first side and a second side. The wicking member includes a wicking tab to be disposed within the opening of the extension tube. The indicator is in fluid communication with the wicking member. The sealing member is at least partially clear to allow visual inspection of the indicator once the indicator assembly is coupled to the extension tube.
Indwelling valve actuated urinary catheter
An indwelling valve actuated urinary catheter has an inner catheter having an inlet port configured on a distal end and for locating within the bladder and a sheath that extends over the inner catheter to produce a valve. The sheath extends over the inlet port when the valve is in a closed position and manipulation of a valve actuator on the proximal end, located within the penis, opens the valve. A bladder plug configured on the distal end of the inner catheter may form a seal between the catheter sheath and the inner catheter. The valve actuator may comprise a proximal nodule and a distal nodule that are configured within the urethra along the penis. Manual manipulation of the valve actuator through the penis, such as by pinching the penis, moves the proximal and distal nodules with respect to each other to open or close the valve.
