Composition and method for orally administering one or more active agents to a pet
A composition and method for administering an active agent to a pet, such as a dog, a cat or a horse. The composition may comprise a yogurt-based chewable delivery matrix and a plurality of water-soluble film pieces dispersed throughout the chewable delivery matrix. The composition may also comprise a delivery matrix having at least 15% by weight of crude protein and a plurality of water-soluble film pieces dispersed throughout the delivery matrix. The plurality of water-soluble film pieces encompass an active agent therein, wherein the active agent is rapidly released from the composition upon contact with saliva from the pet. At least a portion of the released active agents may be oromucosally absorbed by the pet.
REDUCING THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF FARMING USING BIOCHAR
A method for using treated biochar to reduce the overall environmental impact of farming and minimize the carbon footprint of farms is provided. The method comprising engaging in one or more of the following practices: (1) combining treated biochar with feed or using biochar as feed for animals to reduce methane from enteric fermentation and increase animal health and nutrition; (2) combining treated biochar with compost, animal bedding or manure piles to reduce odor and increase nutrient retention; (3) applying treated biochar to lagoons to reduce odor and treat water; (4) applying treated biochar to pastures to increase pasture health; (5) applying treated biochar to crops to increase crop productivity, healthier roots and prevent fertilizer leaching; and (6) using the carbon negativity of a produced biochar to reduce the overall farm or ranch carbon footprint.

Cryoprotectants for freeze drying of lactic acid bacteria
The present invention comprises the discovery and development of an effective cryoprotectant composition, without containing skim milk or any other animal-derived compounds, to achieve long-term stability of freeze-dried lactic acid bacteria (LAB), at different temperatures, whereby the retention of viability of the freeze-dried LAB after 6 months of storage, preferably after 9 months of storage, more preferably after 12 months of storage is more than 50%. The invention is in the field of producing freeze dried bacteria, in particular Lactic acid bacteria. More in particular, the invention relates to the use of a novel combination of cryoprotectants for increasing the viability of bacteria after freeze drying, improving the texture of the lyofilized cake for easy grinding and improving the long term stability of the freeze dried bacteria at different temperature conditions. The invention further relates to such freeze dried bacteria for use in food industry or in human or animal health applications. More in particular, the invention relates to the increased viability and long-term storage of recombinant bacteria capable of expressing heterologous proteins or peptides and administered to humans or animals for therapeutic or vaccination purposes.

FOOD AND ADDITIVE COMPOSITIONS, AND ALSO USES OF LIGNIN AND THE ADDITIVE COMPOSITION
The present invention relates to a food composition comprising lignin as a food additive, to a food composition comprising an additive composition which in turn comprises lignin, to an additive composition comprising lignin, as well as to the uses of lignin and the additive composition.
Also disclosed are benefits of the food composition comprising lignin or comprising an additive composition comprising lignin for animals as well as for products derived thereof.
Urea supplement for animal nutrition
The present invention relates to a mineral dietary supplement for ruminants comprising an organic-inorganic complex based on urea, and various clays for improving the animal's performance by the effect of delaying the release of urea in the rumen. The clays comprise at least one fibrous clay and a nonfibrous clay, preferably attapulgite and montmorillonite.
Polypeptides having Xylanase Activity and Polynucleotides Encoding Same
The present invention relates to polypeptides having xylanase activity and polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides. The invention also relates to nucleic acid constructs, vectors, and host cells comprising the polynucleotides as well as methods of producing and using the polypeptides. The invention also relates to compositions comprising the polypeptides of the invention and the use of the polypeptides of the invention to release xylose and in animal feed.
