Engine including motorized throttle valve
An engine including a motorized throttle valve that can implement mutually neighboring disposition of a throttle body and a cylinder head and can implement a good opening and closing responsibility thereof. A swelling portion is formed on a side wall of a valve chamber in such a manner so as to bite between those of throttle bodies which neighbor with each other in order to accept a protrusion of part of a valve system in a radial direction of first and second camshafts. An electric motor is disposed at one side of the group of the throttle bodies. A speed reduction mechanism, for transmitting output power of the electric motor to a valve shaft, is disposed between those throttle bodies, which neighbor with each other at a different location in the group of the throttle bodies, in a neighboring relationship with the valve chamber.
Valve timing adjustment device
A drain port of a hydraulic oil controller is connected to an oil discharge portion. Each of partitions partitions between a corresponding one of drain oil passages and a corresponding one of a retard supply oil passage and an advance supply oil passage. Each of the drain oil passages connects between the oil discharge portion and a corresponding one of a retard chamber and an advance chamber. A recycle oil passage connects between: a portion of each drain oil passage located between the corresponding partition and the drain port; and the retard supply oil passage or the advance supply oil passage. A drain flow restrictor is formed in the portion of each drain oil passage located between the corresponding partition and the drain port. A passage cross-sectional area of the drain flow restrictor is smaller than a smallest passage cross-sectional area of the recycle oil passage and is constant.
CONTROL VALVE FOR VALVE TIMING ADJUSTING DEVICE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The present disclosure provides a hydraulic control valve for a valve timing adjusting device of an engine. The valve timing adjusting device has a hydraulic control valve; a housing; a rotor installed in the housing and having vanes forming advance, retard and locking chambers, respectively; and a locking pin member elastically installed at the locking chamber. In particular, the hydraulic control valve includes: a valve body connected to the camshaft and having ports and a spool space; an outer spool elastically installed in the spool space and having distribution ports selectively communicated with or disconnected to the ports of the valve body; and an inner spool that is integrally coupled to the outer spool and forms a supply passage connected to a working fluid pump and a drain passage connected to a drain tank together. With this arrangement, the hydraulic control valve reliably provides phase angle control operation and the self-locking operation to adjust a valve timing and thereby improving engine performance
PLATE VALVE FOUR STOKE HEAD
A head, for an internal combustion engine, is provided, the head using at least one plate to control the filling and emptying of the combustion chamber. The plate may be placed so that the movement of the plate may open or close the intake and/or exhaust ports. The timing of the opening and closing of the port can be controlled by a partial cutout in the plate.
System and method for improving cylinder deactivation
Systems and methods for operating an engine with deactivating and non-deactivating valves are presented. In one example, estimates of engine fuel consumption for operating the engine with a plurality of cylinder modes or patterns while a transmission is engaged in different gears are determined and are used as a basis for deactivating engine cylinders.
CAMSHAFT ADJUSTING DEVICE FOR ADJUSTING A POSITION OF AT LEAST ONE CAM SEGMENT
A camshaft adjusting device of a drive, such as a motor vehicle drive, for example, for adjusting a phase position of a cam segment may include a camshaft and a phase shifter that is operatively connected to the camshaft. The camshaft may comprise a shaft segment including an inner shaft and an outer shaft at least partially surrounding the inner shaft. The camshaft adjusting device may further comprise a drive segment for driving the shaft segment and a cam segment that is connected in a form-fitting and/or force-fitting manner to the outer shaft. The phase shifter may comprise a rotor element and a stator element. A compensating element for compensating for part tolerances between the camshaft and the phase shifter can be disposed at least in sections between the rotor element and the drive segment.”
ENGINE VARIABLE CAMSHAFT TIMING PHASER WITH PLANETARY GEAR SET
An engine variable camshaft timing phaser (10) includes a sprocket (12), three ring gears (26, 28, 30), multiple planet gears (24), and a sun gear (22). The sprocket (12) receives rotational drive input from an engine crankshaft. One or more of the three ring gear(s) (26, 28, 30) receives rotational drive input from the sprocket (12) and rotates with the sprocket (12), and the remaining ring gear(s) (26, 28, 30) transmit rotational drive output to an engine camshaft (62). All three of the ring gears (26, 28, 30) engage with the planet gears (24). And the sun gear (22) also engages with the planet gears (24). In operation, relative rotational speeds between the sprocket (12) and the sun gear (22) causes the engine camshaft (62) to advance or retard engine valve opening and closing.
Advance locked spool valve pump phaser with hydraulic detent valve
A phaser which has three camshaft start positions at start-up during cranking before the engine can fire. By having three possible start positions of the phaser, there is an increase in flexibility of the cam position at startup during cranking. The three start positions can also be achieved in open loop, reducing the complexity of the control system needed at cranking.
DUAL ACTUATING VARIABLE CAM
A variable camshaft timing system including a first camshaft phaser having an input that is configured to receive rotational force from a crankshaft and an output that is configured to link with a first camshaft of a concentric camshaft assembly to change the angular position of the first camshaft relative to a crankshaft; and a second camshaft phaser having an output that is configured to link with a second camshaft of the concentric camshaft assembly to change the angular position of the second camshaft relative to the crankshaft, wherein the first camshaft is concentrically positioned to the first camshaft and the first camshaft phaser is mechanically linked to the second camshaft phaser to communicate rotational force from the crankshaft to the second camshaft phaser through the first camshaft phaser and the mechanical link.
