ACTUATION ARRANGEMENT FOR ACTUATING A LATCH IN A SWITCHABLE ROCKER ARM AND A VALVE TRAIN COMPRISING THE SAME
A valve train assembly includes: at least one dual body rocker arm having a first body, a second body, and a latching arrangement for latching and unlatching the first body and the second body, the latching arrangement being biased to an unlatched configuration; and an actuator arrangement external to the rocker arm for controlling the latching arrangement, the actuator arrangement being arranged so that a default setting thereof is to cause the latching arrangement to be in a latched configuration.
PHASE CHANGING UNIT AND VALVE TIMING CHANGING DEVICE
A phase changing unit of the present invention changes the relative rotational phase of a first rotating body and a second rotating body, and includes: a rotating member to which an external drive shaft is connected and to which a rotational driving force is applied; and a relative rotation mechanism that generates a relative rotation between a first rotating body and a second rotating body by the rotation of the rotating member. The rotating member includes: an action part that is made of metal and acts on the relative rotation mechanism; a connection part which is made of resin and to which the drive shaft is connected; and a fragile part that is made of resin and functions to cut the transmission of a rotational force between the drive shaft and the rotating member when an excessive load has occurred.
Mechanical retention member for valvetrain components
A retention member is configured to be supported within a cylinder head of an engine and includes a body portion and a plurality of arms. The body portion has an opening configured to receive a fuel injector of the engine. Additionally, the plurality of arms extends from the body portion and is configured to be positioned over a portion of a cross-head of the engine. The plurality of arms is spaced apart from the cross-head during routine operation of the engine.
Device for adjusting the stroke of a valve of internal combustion engines
The disclosure relates 10 a device which is used to adjust the valve stroke of internal combustion engines and has an actuation element for the valve stem. The actuation element is actuated by the camshaft and has a receiving space for a pressure medium. The receiving space is fluidically connected to a reservoir space of an adjustment reservoir. The volume of the reservoir space can be adjusted by means of a reservoir piston. The reservoir piston is loaded toward the reservoir space with a force that is greater than the force applied by the pressure medium and that is less than the restoring force acting on the piston.
Method for alternate control of CVVD malfunction and CVVD system thereof
A method for an alternate control of a continuously variable valve duration (CVVD) malfunction may include a CVVD failsafe control to resolve a calculation error of a cylinder charge amount due to a hardware failure of a CVVD system with the cylinder charge amount determined by any one of flow rate alternate, flow rate deviation correction, and valve duration update if the hardware failure is recognized by a CVVD controller, and to apply the cylinder charge amount to secure an air amount for a combustion chamber.
Valve bridge systems comprising valve bridge guide
A valve bridge system comprises a valve bridge configured to extend between at least two engine valves of an internal combustion engine. In one embodiment, a valve bridge guide is operatively connected to the valve bridge and configured to extend between at least two valve springs respectively corresponding to the at least two engine valves, the valve bridge guide defining a surface conforming to a valve spring of the at least two valve springs. In another embodiment, the valve bridge guide may comprise at least a first member maintained in a first fixed position relative to and at a predetermined distance from the valve bridge. In both embodiments, the valve bridge guide is configured to avoid contact with the valve bridge in a controlled state, but to permit contact with valve bridge to resist uncontrolled movement of the valve bridge.
EXHAUST VALVE, EXHAUST VALVE ASSEMBLY AND EXHAUST VALVE SYSTEM FOR TWO-STROKE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES, TWO-STROKE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE HAVING SAME AND METHOD FOR CLEANING AN EXHAUST VALVE
A two-stroke internal combustion engine has an engine block having a cylinder block and a cylinder head. The cylinder block defines a cylinder, an exhaust passage, and an exhaust valve passage. The engine also has a piston, an exhaust valve actuator operatively connected to at least one of the cylinder block and the cylinder head, and a reciprocating exhaust valve disposed at least in part in the exhaust valve passage. The exhaust valve has a shaft operatively connected to a valve actuator, and a blade connected to the shaft. A channel is defined along a face of the blade. The channel and a wall of the exhaust valve passage together define at least in part a valve passage. The valve passage permits flow of exhaust gas along the face of the blade. A width of the valve passage is at least a third of a width of the blade.
