A gasket is described configured to be mounted on a valve of an internal combustion engine, having a central axis and comprising: an annular elastically deformable sealing element, having a radially internal surface having a first portion, adapted to cooperate with contact with a stem of the valve, and a second portion, configured to cooperate with contact with a guide element in a sliding manner of the aforementioned stem; and an annular support member, arranged coaxially on at least part of the sealing element so that the latter is pressed radially between the support member and the valve; the second portion has a circumferential surface section and a plurality of discrete bumps, projecting cantilevered from the circumferential surface section so as to cooperate with contact in use with the guide element, angularly spaced from each other around the axis and forming a discontinuous undulation of the radially internal surface.
Cranktrain phase adjuster for variable compression ratio
A phase adjuster assembly configured to adjust a phase between a driving component and a driven component of an internal combustion engine is generally provided. The assembly includes an input gear assembly comprising an input gear configured to engage a driving component, and a spline carrier. An output gear assembly includes an output gear configured to engage a driven component, and a drive plate configured to drivingly engage with the spline carrier. Various components disclosed herein are formed as stamped sheet metal components. Additionally, various connections between adjacent components are provided via relative uncomplicated processes, such as welding.
ENGINE AND STRADDLED VEHICLE
An intake cam is positioned between first and second shaft supports that support an intake camshaft. An exhaust cam is positioned between third and fourth shaft supports that support an exhaust camshaft. An ignition plug unit extends between the intake camshaft and the exhaust camshaft and inward of the intake cam and the exhaust cam with a cylinder axis defining a reference position. A cylinder head includes a joint plane that is joined to a cylinder body. In a case where a virtual plane is defined by the joint plane and is perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the cylinder axis, a distance between a portion, closest to the virtual plane, of the intake camshaft and the virtual plane is less than a distance between a portion, farthest from the virtual plane, of the intake port and the virtual plane.
System and method for improving cylinder deactivation
Systems and methods for operating an engine with deactivating and non-deactivating valves are presented. In one example, estimates of engine fuel consumption for operating the engine with a plurality of cylinder modes or patterns while a transmission is engaged in different gears are determined and are used as a basis for deactivating engine cylinders.
Multiple variable valve lift apparatus
A multiple variable valve lift apparatus may include a camshaft rotating by driving of an engine, a cam portion formed in a cylindrical shape having a hollow that the camshaft is inserted into, rotating together with the camshaft, configured to move along an axial direction of the camshaft, and forming a zero cam and a normal cam, a valve opening/closing device configured to be operated by at least one of the zero cam or the normal cam which are formed at the cam portion, an operating device disposed on an exterior circumference of the camshaft so as to move together with the cam portion, and a solenoid configured to selectively move the operating device along an axial direction of the camshaft, in which a journal, which has a radius being equal to a radius of the zero cam, is formed at the cam portion.
Lubricant feed mechanism for engine
Provided is a lubricant feed mechanism for an engine capable of achieving manufacturing cost reduction. A lubricant feed mechanism for an engine (1) is configured to feed lubricant through a cylinder head (10), a camshaft (an intake-side camshaft (40); an exhaust-side camshaft (42)), a cam cap (50), and an oil feed member (100) to a cam (a cam (40a); a cam (42a)) of a valve gear (30). The oil feed member (100) is formed by folding one panel member, and the inside surface of the oil feed member (100) in the folded state is recessed so as to form an oil passage (a first oil passage (114); a second oil passage (116); a third oil passage (118)) for guiding lubricant fed through the cam cap (50) to the cam.
Valve timing control apparatus for internal combustion engine
A valve timing control apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes a driving rotation member to which rotation of a crankshaft is transmitted, a driven rotation member coupled to a camshaft so as to be rotatable relative to the driving rotation member, an electric motor having a motor output shaft to cause rotation of the driven rotation member relative to the driving rotation member, a cover member arranged axially facing a front end portion of the motor output shaft and an electromagnetic induction type rotational angle detection mechanism disposed between the motor output shaft and the cover member so as to detect a rotational angle of the motor output shaft. The rotational angle detection mechanism has a detected part provided to the front end portion of the motor output shaft and a detecting part provided to a portion of the cover member axially facing the detected part.
Valvetrain conversion kit for an engine
