Aircraft engine oil tanks, lubrication systems, and associated methods are provided. The oil tank includes a first tank portion defining a first volume for holding oil and a second tank portion defining a second volume for holding oil, in fluid communication with the first volume. The first tank portion includes an oil outlet for delivering oil to a lubrication load via a pump. The first volume is in fluid communication with a vent opening for venting the oil tank. At least part of the second tank portion is disposed higher than the vent opening for retaining a quantity of oil inside the oil tank during a negative-g force flight condition and facilitate the recovery of the lubrication system following the negative-g force flight condition.

The second magnetic chip capture zone includes a third electrically conductive terminal and either the second electrically conductive terminal or a fourth electrically conductive terminal to define a second chip-receiving gap therebetween. The magnetic chip detector includes an electric circuit including both the first chip-receiving gap and the second chip-receiving gap. The electric circuit provides an output indicative of a chip detection by one or both of the first magnetic chip capture zone and the second magnetic capture zone.

The oil storage unit includes a waste oil chamber and a second oil inlet tube communicated with a third opening of the vehicle oil circuit. The flushing unit includes a flushing chamber and a flushing tube. The flushing chamber receives a washing oil. The flushing tube is communicated respectively with the flushing chamber and a fourth opening of the vehicle oil circuit. The flushing tube guides the washing oil to enter the vehicle oil circuit.

An engine may be part of a vehicle and the engine fluid filter may be an oil filter. An expandable engine fluid catcher has a retainer portion having a retainer band that is secured around the engine fluid filter. Most engine fluid filters are cylindrical in shape and therefore a band, and in particular an elastic band, may be used to attach the expandable engine fluid catcher to the fluid filter. A pleated portion of the expandable engine fluid catcher has a plurality of pleats that extend from the retainer band upward to an expandable end that can be flared out, or expanded, to provide a larger diameter for catching engine fluid therein.
