Combustion engine crankcase breather system and method
In a combustion engine, an exit stream of blow-by gases follows a fluid pathway through an oil and air separator and a breather filter, the oil and air separator including a first housing including a central chamber therein, the central chamber divided into a first outer portion and a second inner portion by a barrier; a filter material disposed between the first outer portion and the second inner portion; a cap directly coupled to the first housing, the cap including a first lumen therethrough, the first lumen including a first end disposed at the second inner portion; and a coupler removably coupling the cap and an extension portion including a second lumen therethrough.
PCV VALVE
A positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve includes a tubular body extending along an axis between a first end and a second end, the tubular body having an outer diameter and an inner diameter defining a wall around a central passage that extends through the tubular body and is orthogonal to the axis, and a metering device secured within the central passage adjacent the first end. The wall includes a window between the metering device and second end, and the window defines an air flow path through the wall and into the central passage for detecting a disconnection of the PCV valve from the crankcase, wherein a total area of the window is greater than an open axial area within the metering device when the metering device is in a maximum flow condition.
Systems and methods for crankcase system diagnostics
Methods and systems are provided for assessing a state of a vent hose that fluidically couples a crankcase of an engine to an engine air intake system. In one example, a method may include sealing the crankcase from the vent hose, initiating cranking of the engine, monitoring a series of pressure pulsations during a monitoring window duration via a pressure sensor positioned between a crankcase oil separator and the vent hose, and indicating a presence of degradation associated with the vent hose based on the series of pressure pulsations and the monitoring window duration. In this way, diagnosis of a state of the vent hose may be reliably assessed without crankcase pressures confounding pressure measurements as recorded via the pressure sensor.
Air-oil separator drain valve and related method of use
A drain valve of an air-oil separator configured to separate oil aerosol from blow-by gas of an internal combustion engine is provided. The drain valve includes a floating plate adapted to close or open depending on oil flow and pressure relative to a drainpipe, and a plug that maintains the floating plate in the drainpipe and provides a flow path for oil in the drainpipe. The plug can serve a secondary function and form part of a seal recess that receives an annular seal member, such as an o-ring, to form a liquid tight seal around the drainpipe when coupled to another engine component to allow transfer of oil through the drainpipe. A related method of use is provided.
ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVE
An electromagnetic valve includes a solenoid with a bobbin, a plunger, a yoke, and a coil, a flow path assembly including a first flow path, a second flow path, and a valve housing portion, and a valve that switches between an open state and a closed state between the first flow path and the second flow path. The plunger includes a passage that extends along an axial direction, and that opens toward another axial side to communicate with a gap between the plunger and the yoke, and an opening that opens radially outward from the passage to allow the passage communicating with the gap to communicate with the valve housing portion through the passage. The electromagnetic valve further includes a regulator to regulate a radially outward flow of a fluid flowing out from the passage into the gap at least in the open state.
Oil and gas separation device for internal combustion engine
An oil and gas separation device for an internal combustion engine includes a first chamber, a second chamber, and a third chamber provided successively from bottom to top, wherein the first chamber is connected to the second chamber through a first gas channel. The second chamber is connected to the third chamber through a second gas channel. The third chamber is connected to a gas outlet pipe. A bottom of the first chamber is connected to an internal combustion engine body. A lower oil baffle plate is provided between the bottom of the first chamber and the internal combustion engine body. The first gas channel is longitudinally covered by the lower oil baffle plate. The oil and gas separation effect and speed can be improved by employing the oil and gas separation device for the internal combustion engine of the present disclosure.
VALVE DEVICE
A valve device includes a flow channel member having a first flow channel, and an electromagnetic valve having a movable piece movable in a predetermined direction and being capable of opening and closing the first flow channel. The flow channel member has an annular protrusion surrounding an opening of the first flow channel. A valve body of the movable piece has a valve body base having a large diameter part and a small diameter part connected to the large diameter part with a step therebetween, and an annular elastic body surrounding the small diameter part and attached to the valve body base. The annular elastic body has a first contact surface contacting a surface of a flange of the small diameter part, a second contact surface contacting a step surface of the step, and a seal surface able to contact the annular protrusion.
VALVE DEVICE
A valve device includes a flow channel member having a first flow channel, an electromagnetic valve having a movable piece movable in a predetermined direction and being capable of opening and closing the first flow channel, and a valve seat body fixed to the first flow channel. The first flow channel has a first flow channel main body and an opening connected to one end of the first flow channel main body with a step therebetween. The valve seat body has a fixed part fitted into an inside of the opening, an extension which extends from the fixed part, a circulation hole which penetrates the fixed part and the extension, and a valve seat which is provided at an end of the circulation hole. The movable piece has a valve body which is able to be seated in the valve seat from one side in the predetermined direction.
