MUFFLER FOR AN EXHAUST SYSTEM OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A muffler for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a housing, a through pipe that conducts exhaust gas during operation of the muffler and is guided through the housing, and a branch pipe fluidically branching off from the through pipe within the housing. The branch pipe has an upstream end at the through pipe and ends freely and open at an end face with a downstream end within the housing. The branch pipe has a length from the upstream to the downstream end or up to a lateral recess which has a cross-sectional area which is greater than half a pipe cross-section of the branch pipe. The branch pipe has downstream perforations in a section from of the length as measured from the upstream end A total area of the downstream perforations is smaller than half the pipe cross-section of the branch pipe, and no perforations or upstream perforations have a total area of at most 10% of the pipe cross-section of the branch pipe being present in a section before of the length.
MUFFLER COMPRISING A HELMHOLTZ RESONATOR AND A VEHICLE COMPRISING SUCH A MUFFLER
A muffler for a vehicle, where the muffler comprises a partition wall that divides the interior in a first chamber and a second chamber, where an inlet pipe comprising a perforated section arranged in the first chamber and a closed section arranged in the first chamber, where the outlet opening of the inlet pipe is arranged in the second chamber, a first outlet pipe comprising an inlet opening arranged in the first chamber and an outlet opening arranged outside of the muffler, where the muffler comprises a second outlet pipe having an inlet opening arranged in the second chamber, and where the second outlet pipe is provided with an exhaust valve adapted to open or close the exhaust gas flow through the second outlet pipe. The advantage of the invention is that a muffler with an improved low frequency noise attenuation and low backpressure is provided.
VEHICLE FRAME WITH ACOUSTIC VOLUME FOR AN EXHAUST SYSTEM
A vehicle exhaust system includes a first component that receives exhaust gas output from an engine and a second component that is fluidly coupled to the first component to define an upstream portion of a vehicle exhaust system. A vehicle frame member includes an internal acoustic volume. A pipe connects the internal acoustic volume in parallel to the upstream portion of the vehicle exhaust system.
MUFFLER SYSTEM
A muffler system with a muffler in one aspect of the present disclosure includes an outer wall, and a first separator and a second separator that partition a muffling space. An attachment member is arranged on an outer surface of the outer wall, and a muffler pipe to communicate with the muffling space is arranged to pass through an attachment member hole in the attachment member. The outer surface of the outer wall includes a first area and a second area. The first area is located between a first end of the muffling space and the first separator, and the second area is located between a second end of the muffling space and the second separator. The attachment member is welded to the first and second areas of the outer surface of the outer wall.
Acoustically Tuned Muffler
A muffler for receiving exhaust gas from a combustion engine may include a shell, an inlet pipe, at least one outlet pipe, one or more baffles, and an internal communication pipe. The inlet pipe may extend through the shell. The outlet pipe may be in fluid communication with the inlet pipe and may be at least partially disposed within the shell. The baffles are disposed within the shell and cooperate with the shell to define a plurality of chambers. The internal communication pipe may be disposed entirely within the shell and may be in fluid communication with the inlet pipe. The internal communication pipe may include an inlet opening and first and outlet openings. The first outlet opening is open to and in direct fluid communication with one of the chambers. The second outlet opening is open to and in direct fluid communication with another one of the chambers.
Vehicle exhaust system
A vehicle exhaust system includes a tubular component defining a primary exhaust gas flow path with a primary exhaust gas outlet. At least one opening is defined by the tubular component and extends through an inner surface and an outer surface of the tubular component. A plate is disposed on the outer surface of tubular component and covers the at least one opening. A secondary exhaust gas flow path is defined by the at least one opening in the tubular component, through a plurality of elongated flow channels, and through the outlet opening defined by the plate. The exhaust gases flowing through the secondary exhaust gas flow path are exhausted to atmosphere in a different location than the primary outlet.
EXHAUST SILENCER DEVICE
An exhaust silencer device which is interposed in an exhaust passage in a vehicle to reduce exhaust noise comprises a sub-muffler which is interposed in the exhaust passage and has an expansion chamber formed therein; an inlet pipe which is airtightly inserted through an inlet opening of the sub-muffler; and an outlet pipe which is airtightly inserted through an outlet opening of the sub-muffler, wherein the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe are formed with openings (small apertures, non-joined portions) only in their upper half area and their lower half area is sealed without having the openings.
Acoustically Tuned Muffler
A muffler may include a shell, first and second baffles, an inlet pipe, first and second outlet pipes, and a communication pipe. The first and second baffles cooperate with the shell to define first, second and third chambers. The first inlet pipe may extend through the shell and may provide exhaust gas to at least one of the first and second chambers. Exhaust gas in the first chamber exits the muffler through the first outlet pipe. Exhaust gas in the second chamber exits the muffler through the second outlet pipe. The communication pipe may include first, second and third openings. The first opening is in communication with the first chamber. The second opening is in communication with the second chamber. The third opening is in communication with the third chamber. The first and second chambers may be in communication with the third chamber through the communication pipe.
Damper for gas turbine
The present invention generally relates to a gas turbine and more in particular it is related to a damper assembly for a combustion chamber of a gas turbine. According to preferred embodiments, the present solution provides a damper assembly including protrusions on a wall of the neck. These protrusions result in a side wall reactance to the acoustic field that has the effect of decreasing the effective speed of sound in the neck. The decrease of the effective speed of sound in the neck is equivalent to an increase of the effective neck length.
Exhaust-gas after-treatment device
Disclosed is an exhaust-gas after-treatment device for an internal combustion engine, in particular for a ship's diesel internal combustion engine that is operated with heavy oil, including: a housing through which exhaust gas flows; exhaust-gas purification chambers formed in the housing, which chambers hold catalysts and/or particulate filters in order to purify the exhaust gas; and muffler chambers formed in the housing, which chambers have a defined depth for muffling sound in the flow direction. The exhaust-gas purification chambers and the muffler chambers are arranged spatially in series and parallel to one another on the flow side.
