HUMIDIFICATION DEVICE AND SYSTEM
The invention relates to a non-heated humidification device comprising a wick; a chamber for holding water in contact with the wick; and a gas inlet to the chamber, wherein the chamber and wick are configured to humidify gas passing through or over the wick at ambient conditions. The device may be modular and attachable to a flow generator. The device may comprise dual gas circuits and a control system for controlling the gas flow through the gas circuits in order to control the humidity of the gas output.
Medical device with additively applied converter including a conductive path
This disclosure relates to a medical device including, a hard part, a converter, and a conductive path. The hard part has fluid paths for guiding a medical fluid, in particular blood, through the hard part. The converter is arranged to measure a characteristic of the medical fluid while the fluid is present in one of the fluid paths. At least a first section of the converter or of the conductive path is applied to or superimposed on the hard part by a first additive application method. At least a second section of the converter or of the conductive path is applied to the hard part by a second application method. The first and the second additive application methods differ from each other.
BREATH INDICATOR
This invention relates to a breath indicator that is receivable by a part of a breathing assistance apparatus that supplies gas to a patient. The indicator comprises an elongate body having a gas sampling end and an attachment end. The attachment end is adapted to attach to a part of a breathing assistance apparatus and for locating the gas sampling end. The gas sampling end is to be located in a region where gas from the patient is to be exhaled. The gas sampling end being in communication with a sensor comprising a detector material changeable between a first visual indicator state relating to an inhalation phase of the patient, and a second visual indicator state relating to an exhalation phase of the patient. The detector material is capable of changing between the visual indicator states at a sufficient rate to substantially correspond with the inhalation and exhalation phases of the patient.
Smart connection interface
A method and apparatus for a connection interface between a reservoir or syringe, infusion set tubing, and an infusion pump is provided. The reservoir, a base and a cap are connected to form an integrated unit that is capable of being inserted and secured in an infusion pump housing. The cap and the infusion pump are each provided with at least one sensor or at least one detectable feature, arranged to interact with at least one corresponding detectable feature or sensor on the other of the cap and infusion pump device, to detect one or more of the presence, position or other characteristic of the cap when the cap is aligned or coupled with the infusion pump housing. The detectable feature and sensor may be magnetic, RF, mechanical, optical or any combination.
Color changing and pressure sensing check valves
A check valve includes an upper housing defining an inlet of the check valve, and a lower housing having a seating portion and defining an outlet of the check valve. The check valve further includes a chamber interposed between and defined by the upper and lower housings for fluidly connecting the inlet and the outlet, and a flexible diaphragm mounted in the chamber. The flexible diaphragm selectively permits fluid flow in a first direction, and prevents fluid backflow in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The flexible diaphragm includes a color changing material, and when the flexible diaphragm is seated on the seating portion and bent due to force of the fluid flowing in the first direction, the flexible diaphragm exhibits a color change.
TIP & ASSEMBLY FOR THERMAL EXTRACTION DEVICE
An exothermal vaporizer is provided. The exothermal vaporizer has a body including an air and vapor mix port, a fluid inlet port in communication with a reservoir, an air inlet, and a wicking material. A mouthpiece is coupled to the body and a temperature indicating cap is removable from the body. A counter flow design exothermal vaporizer, a modular exothermal vaporizer, and a vaporizer which is adjustable to modulate and/or regulate the flow ratio of dilution air and produced vapor are also disclosed.
FLUID VESSEL INSERTION DEVICE WITH AUTOMATIC NEEDLE RETRACTION
The present invention relates to a fluid vessel insertion device comprising a) a puncture member arranged for location within a cannulation sheet and comprising an interior lumen; b) a retractor arranged to actuate the puncture member relative to the cannulation sheet in use between i) a first situation in which a distal end of the puncture member protrudes beyond an end of the cannulation sheet, and ii) a second situation in which the distal end of the puncture member is within the cannulation sheet; c) a chamber in fluid communication with an exterior of the device only via the lumen and distal end of the puncture member; and d) a sheet of material located in the chamber to prevent the proximal end of the puncture member from moving; wherein the distal end of the puncture member is configured as a puncturing end having a distal n end opening for insertion into a fluid vessel when in use, and wherein the retractor triggers retraction of the puncture member between the first and the second situation automatically in response to wetting of the sheet of material by a fluid entering the puncture member lumen, whereby the sheet of material is comprising a material whose tensile strength is reduced upon contact with the fluid, and breaks under the pressure of the retractor.
MEDICAL DEVICE FOR VISUALLY DISPLAYING AN INJECTION PRESSURE OF A FLUID
A medical device and kit for visually displaying an injection pressure of a fluid, The device has a fluid path for the fluid and includes a piezochromic material which, under the action of a pressure of < 100 bar, displays a piezochromic color change that is perceptible to the human eye.
MEDICAL PORT PROTECTION ADAPTERS
Medical port protection adapters are described herein. In one aspect, a contamination guard can include a proximal collar adapted and configured to engage with a medical port; an elastomeric medial region coupled to the proximal collar; and a distal collar coupled to the proximal collar by the elastomeric medial region; where the elastomeric medial region is adapted and configured to: bias the distal collar to extend at least partially over a distal end of the port when in an unloaded position; and allow the distal collar to resiliently travel proximally when loaded to permit engagement with the distal end of the medical port.
