SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REGULATING PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH A TRI-MODAL VALVE
A system for regulating performance characteristics of a vehicle includes an engine configured to output an exhaust gas. The system further comprises an emissions system in fluid communication with the engine, the emissions system configured to clean the exhaust gas. The system further comprises a valve system in fluid communication with the emissions system, the valve system configured to regulate a flow of the exhaust gas. The valve system comprises a vane movable between a forward open position, a closed position, and a rear open position. The valve system further comprises a biasing member configured to bias the vane in the forward open position. The valve system further comprises a bypass channel configured to provide a bypass flow path for the exhaust gas to control a backpressure on the vane.
Muffler valve device for vehicle
A muffler valve device for a vehicle may include a chamber fixed at a surface of the wall, a guide rod provided in the chamber and attached at the surface of the wall, a fixing member attached at one end portion of the guide rod and fixing the chamber, a valve disposed slidably on the guide rod between the surface of the wall and the fixing member, and an elastic member located between the valve and the fixing member to provide an elastic force to the valve.

Exhaust sound enhancement assembly and method for a marine propulsion device
A marine propulsion device includes an internal combustion engine powering the marine propulsion device and an engine compartment containing the engine. A primary exhaust passageway routes exhaust gas away from the engine and out of the engine compartment. A sound enhancement assembly communicates with the primary exhaust passageway. The sound enhancement assembly includes a sound enhancement device tuned to amplify exhaust sounds of a predetermined frequency and a sound duct downstream of the sound enhancement device that transmits the amplified exhaust sounds to an area outside the engine compartment. The sound enhancement device isolates the sound duct from the exhaust gas. A method for modifying sounds produced by an exhaust system of the internal combustion engine is also disclosed.
Suction acoustic filter for compressor
The present invention relates to the technological field of compressors and components and/or devices for compressors. Problem to be solved: The current state of the art includes cooling system of dual evaporation and/or dual suction. On the solutions already existing, the selection of one among the two evaporation/suction lines is done by high complexity constructive mechanisms. Problem resolution: The invention in question aims to simplify the construction of a selection mean of one among two evaporation/suction lines. For so, is revealed a suction acoustic filter for reciprocating compressor which integrates an automatic valve coupled to the inlet way of the suction acoustic filter and a valve of a way is coupled to the inlet way of the suction acoustic filter, being said automatic valve and said valve of a way acting selectively reciprocating, where the valve opening of a way ends up opening the automatic valve.
Methods and systems for exhaust tuning valve diagnostics
Methods and systems are provided for diagnostics of an exhaust tuning valve during vehicle-off conditions. In one example, the engine may be reverse rotated, unfueled while the position of the exhaust is varied and an intake air flow is estimated at each position of the exhaust tuning valve. The exhaust tuning valve may be diagnosed based on a change in air flow with the variation in the position of the exhaust tuning valve.
APPARATUS FOR REGULATING PRESSURE OF EXHAUST GAS OF FUEL CELL SYSTEM
An apparatus for regulating pressure of exhaust gas of a fuel cell system includes porous foam mounted in an exhaust tube and having a plurality of pores therein and a regulator that compresses or expands the porous foam to regulate a differential pressure of the exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust tube.

Exhaust system spring with torsional damping
An adaptive valve assembly includes a pipe defining a passageway for conducting engine exhaust gases, a pivot shaft supported by the pipe, and a valve body coupled to the pivot shaft. The valve body is moveable between an open position where exhaust gas flow through the passageway is increased and a closed position where exhaust gas flow through the passageway is reduced. A spring biases the valve body toward the closed position. The spring includes a plurality of coils that have torsional displacement relative to each other as the valve body moves between the open and closed positions. A torsional damper feature is associated with at least one coil of the plurality of coils to provide torsional spring damping.
EXHAUST VALVE DEVICE
An exhaust valve device includes a valve body, a valve seat, a support shaft, a coil spring, and a cushion member. The valve body is placed in an exhaust passage in a silencer, and configured to open and close the exhaust passage. The valve body abuts against the valve seat when the valve body is closed. The support shaft is fixed to the valve seat, and supports the valve body to be able to swing freely. The support shaft is inserted in the coil spring. The coil spring biases the valve body. The cushion member is interposed between the coil spring and the support shaft. The cushion member is rotatable relative to the support shaft.
