Diagnostic system for internal combustion engine
A diagnostic system for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The diagnostic system may include an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit may determine whether a predetermined condition is satisfied. The predetermined condition may be a condition under which an amount of particulate matter that separates from a filter is larger than or equal to a predetermined separation amount as a urea water-originated deposit once accumulated in the filter separates in gaseous form. When the electronic control unit determines that the predetermined condition is satisfied, the electronic control unit may not execute a diagnosis of a malfunction in the filter based on a filter differential pressure until a predetermined period elapses from the point in time at which it is determined that the predetermined condition is satisfied.
Thermoelectric generator sleeve for a catalytic converter
In one embodiment, a system is disclosed that includes a thermoelectric generator (TEG) layer that comprises a thermoelectric nanostructure. The system also includes a thermal conductance layer coupling the TEG layer to a catalytic converter and provides heat from an exhaust gas passing through the catalytic converter to the TEG layer. The system additionally includes a cooling layer coupled to the TEG layer opposite the thermal conductance layer that provides cooling to the TEG layer.
EXHAUST SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE OF A VEHICLE
An exhaust system, especially for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, includes an exhaust gas-carrying duct (14) and a reactant injection device (20) for injecting reactant (R) into exhaust gas (A) flowing in the exhaust gas-carrying duct (14). Downstream of the reactant injection device (20), a mixer device (22) supports the mixing of reactant (R) injected by the reactant injection device (20) with exhaust gas (A) flowing in the exhaust gas-carrying duct (14). Downstream of the reactant injection device (20) and upstream of the mixer device (22), a reactant heating device (24) extends in the exhaust gas-carrying duct (14). The exhaust gas (A) flows in and reactant (R) injected through the reactant injection device (20) flow around the heating device (24).
RECUPERATIVE HEAT EXCHANGER SYSTEM
A system may include a turbine and a recuperative heat exchanger system. The recuperative heat exchanger system is configured to receive exhaust gases from the turbine. The recuperative heat exchanger system may include a precool section to cool the exhaust gases, a major heating section to receive the cooled the exhaust gases, and a minor heating section to receive the cooled the exhaust gases.
Apparatus and method to improve vaporization of fuel in internal combustion engines
A system and method to improve the efficiency of an internal combustion engine by delivering an air/fuel mixture to the combustion chamber in a pure gaseous state. The system accepts an air/fuel mixture from a carburetor or injector which is placed into a vaporized state before entering the combustion chamber of the engine. An intake track capable of withstanding exhaust gas temperatures of an internal combustion engine is constructed and arranged to cause vaporization of fuel and inhibit the vaporization from condensing.
Acoustic absorber with integrated heat sink
A thermal management assembly is provided for both removing heat and absorbing acoustic energy. The thermal management assembly includes a heat sink base component and a plurality of thermally conductive fins disposed in a sparsely-arranged array in thermal communication with the heat sink base component. Each fin defines a two-sided Helmholtz unit cell disposed in a periodic array extending from the heat sink base component. Each unit cell includes a lossy resonator and a lossless resonator. The lossy resonator includes a first chamber portion bounded by at least one first boundary wall defining a first chamber volume, and a first neck forming an opening in the first chamber portion. The lossless resonator includes a second chamber portion bounded by at least one second boundary wall defining a second chamber volume, and a second neck forming an opening in the second chamber portion.

Oil separator and compressed air drying system
An oil separator is provided with: a heating device for heating liquid accumulated in a drainage storage section; a connection pipe for connecting the drainage storage section to an external device utilizing oil; an opening and closing device for opening and closing the flow passage of the connection pipe; and a determination device for determining whether or not to deliver the liquid, which is accumulated in the drainage storage section, to the external device. The opening and closing device is configured so as to open the flow passage of the connection pipe when the determination device determines that the liquid accumulated in the drainage storage section is to be delivered to the external device.
