One aspect of the present disclosure provides an exhaust unit including a housing, a wall member, a catalyst, and a muffler chamber. The housing includes a feed inlet and a discharge outlet. The housing is configured such that an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine is introduced from the feed inlet, and the exhaust gas is discharged from the discharge outlet. The wall member is disposed in the housing, and forms a cylindrical flow path that guides a flow of the exhaust gas introduced from the feed inlet to curve along an outer circumference of an interior of the housing. The catalyst is disposed in the flow path. The muffler chamber communicates with the flow path in a downstream side of the catalyst in the flow path. The wall member serves as a part of a wall that defines an inside and an outside of the muffler chamber.

Internal combustion engine and method for exhaust aftertreatment thereof

The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with an air intake system and an exhaust system is embodied as an internal combustion engine, in particular a gasoline engine, that is charged by means of an exhaust gas turbocharger. At least one three-way catalytic converter is arranged in the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine. Furthermore, a low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system is provided that connects the exhaust system downstream from a turbine of the exhaust gas turbocharger and upstream from the at least one three-way catalytic converter to the air intake system upstream from a compressor of the exhaust gas turbocharger. The invention further relates to a method for exhaust aftertreatment of such an internal combustion engine.

Cooling device

An injection valve is provided in a cooling device. An outer jacket is provided at an outside of the injection valve. A cylindrical partitioning unit divides an annular space into an outside passage on a side of the outer jacket and an inside passage on a side of the injection valve. A second pipe portion supplies cooling water into the annular space and a first pipe portion discharges the cooling water from the annular space. A first restricting portion is provided between the first pipe portion and the second pipe portion and it restricts a flow of the cooling water in the outside passage from a part on a side of the second pipe portion to a part on a side of the first pipe portion. A second restricting portion is provided at a position on a side of the first pipe portion opposite to an injection port. The second restricting portion restricts the flow of the cooling water between the outside and the inside passages. A communication passage is formed in the cylindrical partitioning unit at a position above the first restricting portion and it communicates the outside and the inside passages to each other.

The systems include a hydrogen generator, a hydrogen selective catalytic reduction (H.sub.2-SCR) article, and one or more of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and/or a lean NOx trap (LNT) and/or a low temperature NOx adsorber (LTNA). Certain articles may comprise a zone coated substrate and/or a layered coated substrate and/or an intermingled coated substrate of one or more of the H.sub.2-SCR and/or DOC and/or LNT and/or LTNA catalytic compositions.

Exhaust gas heat recovery system and exhaust system

An exhaust gas heat recovery system for an internal combustion engine has a pump for conveying an operating fluid, an evaporator for converting the operating fluid from the liquid state to the gaseous state, and a condenser for liquefaction of the operating fluid, and having an expansion engine through which the gaseous operating fluid can flow. A sensor is arranged on the expansion engine with which a function of the expansion engine can be monitored. An exhaust system may have such an exhaust gas heat recovery system, and a method for the diagnosis of such an exhaust heat recovery system.

An exhaust gas treatment system to be fitted on a chassis of an automotive vehicle. The system includes a selective catalytic reduction device and a gaseous fluid supplying device. The gaseous fluid supplying device includes a tank containing a material which is capable of retaining gaseous fluid by absorption and/or adsorption and/or formation of chemical complexes, and of releasing previously retained gaseous fluid. The gaseous fluid supplying device further includes a gaseous fluid delivery system capable of causing the release of gaseous fluid by the material and an injection system for injecting gaseous fluid upstream from the selective catalytic reduction device. Additionally the system may include a particulate filtering device. The particulate filtering device, the selective catalytic reduction device and the gaseous fluid supplying device are arranged within a same frame which includes fastening means for fastening the frame to the vehicle chassis.

Control device controlling CO.SUB.2 recovery device

A vehicle includes a battery and a CO.sub.2 recovery device using electric power of the battery to recover CO.sub.2 contained in inflowing gas. A control device mounted in the vehicle controls the CO.sub.2 recovery device. The control device permits operation of the CO.sub.2 recovery device in the case where a high efficiency recovery condition, at which it is predicted that the efficiency of recovery of CO.sub.2, showing a ratio of the amount of recovery of CO.sub.2 in the CO.sub.2 recovery device with respect to the electric power consumed by the battery, will become equal to or greater than a preset predetermined efficiency, is satisfied, and prohibits operation of the CO.sub.2 recovery device in the case where the high efficiency recovery condition is not satisfied.
