Water ingress preventing structure for tailpipe
10309288 · 2019-06-04 · ·

Disclosed is a water ingress preventive structure for a tailpipe which discharges exhaust gas outside of a vehicle at a terminal of an exhaust passage system. A curved shape is imparted to the tailpipe. A partition is mounted on an inner periphery of a curved portion outward of a curved direction so as to be gradually spaced apart from the inner periphery toward downstream in a direction of flow of the exhaust gas. Thus, a dead end portion is defined by the partition and the inner periphery of the curved portion outward of the curved direction.

Straddle-type vehicle

A straddle-type vehicle comprises an engine which generates driving power and emits an exhaust gas; an exhaust device including: a catalyst which cleans the exhaust gas, an inner tube in which the catalyst is disposed and through which the exhaust gas flows, the inner tube extending to a location downstream of the catalyst; and an outer tube which covers an outer peripheral surface of the inner tube in an axial direction of the inner tube, and has a muffling space through which the exhaust gas discharged from the inner tube is flowed to reduce an exhaust noise radiated from the engine; at least one exhaust pipe through which the exhaust gas is led to the catalyst; and a downstream oxygen sensor which detects an oxygen concentration of the exhaust gas after flowing through the catalyst, at a location downstream of the catalyst in the inner tube.

A golf car includes an engine and a shroud that covers a cylinder body. The shroud communicates with a muffler cover, which covers a muffler. A silencer is provided at an outlet of the muffler. An elastic exhaust duct is connected to an exit end portion of the muffler cover. An undercover is located lower than the engine, and defines an underside of an engine room. The undercover includes an opening at a more rearward position than the muffler in a side view. The exhaust duct is routed above the undercover, includes a rearward end portion at the opening, and is fitted to the opening. Holders hold sound absorbing members on an inner circumferential surface of the exhaust duct.

EXHAUST SYSTEM OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

In an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, an exhaust pipe is reliably bent and deformed during vehicle rear collision while improving drainage performance in the exhaust pipe in normal times. The exhaust system 1 includes a second pipe 17 corresponding to a downstream end part of an exhaust pipe 10 through which exhaust gas flows from an engine 2. The second pipe 17 includes: a fragile part 30 as a starting point of bending deformation of a tail pipe 13; and a partition plate 20 vertically dividing the inside of the second pipe 17 to form, under the partition plate 20, a lower passage 7 to flow water that accumulates in the exhaust pipe 10. The partition plate 20 is in a vicinity of the fragile part 30 and at a position not overlapping with the fragile part 30 in an axial direction of the second pipe 17.

The exhaust gas system includes a catalytic converter having an inlet and an outlet, a primary exhaust pipe, an exhaust nozzle and a secondary exhaust pipe. The primary exhaust pipe includes a proximate end and a distal end. The primary exhaust pipe may be affixed to the outlet of the catalytic converter at the proximate end of the primary exhaust pipe. The secondary exhaust pipe may be coupled to the distal end of the primary exhaust pipe via the exhaust nozzle. The exhaust nozzle includes a body region which is integral to a frustoconical defined region. The body region of the exhaust nozzle may be engaged to the distal end of the primary exhaust pipe. The frustoconical defined region of the exhaust nozzle may be engaged to the secondary exhaust pipe.

EXHAUST GAS OUTLET SYSTEM FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE, MOTOR VEHICLE HAVING SUCH AN EXHAUST GAS OUTLET SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN EXHAUST GAS OUTLET SYSTEM

An exhaust gas outlet system for a motor vehicle has an end pipe and a cover. The end pipe cover has an end pipe cover inner and outer wall constructed with at least two walls. The end pipe cover inner wall is constructed in at least two parts, can be closed radially around the end pipe and can be at least partially arranged in a positive-locking manner on the end pipe so that the end pipe cover inner wall in the state thereof mounted on the end pipe is not axially displaceable. A first annular securing element keeps the end pipe cover inner wall radially fixed on the end pipe. The end pipe cover outer wall can be pushed axially over the end pipe cover inner wall. The end pipe cover outer wall is fixed by means of a locking connection axially to the end pipe cover inner wall.
