Post-Combustion Engine Exhaust Gases Absorber
20240392712 · 2024-11-28 ·

A post-combustion engine exhaust gases absorber is an apparatus that scrubs greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants from a post-tailpipe combustion engine exhaust. The apparatus reduces pollutants that could enter the atmosphere to reduce the environmental impact of the combustion engine. The apparatus includes an elongated housing, a distal dry filter, a biofilter, a distal motorized exhaust fan, a wet filter, a controller, and a portable power source. The elongated housing allows the apparatus to be attached to the exit of the combustion engine exhaust system. The distal dry filter, the biofilter, and the wet filter collectively remove the pollutants from the exhaust flow. The distal motorized exhaust fan drives the exhaust flow through the elongated housing so that the exhaust flow moves through the distal dry filter, the biofilter, and the wet filter. The controller and the portable power source enable the autonomous or semi-autonomous operation of the apparatus.

A method for controlling an exhaust gas purification system that can effectively implement desulfation of a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) device. The method for controlling an exhaust gas purification system, in which a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and an SCR device are combined, may include calculating a sulfur poisoning amount of the SCR device and an amount of soot loading in the DPF; and increasing a temperature of the SCR device to a desulfation temperature when the sulfur poisoning amount is greater than a first predetermined value and the amount of soot loading is less than a second predetermined value.

Exhaust System

An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine comprises a lean NO.sub.x trap, a NO.sub.x storage and reduction zone on a wall flow monolithic substrate having a pre-coated porosity of 50% or greater, the NO.sub.x storage and reduction zone comprising a platinum group metal loaded on one or more first support, the or each first support comprising one or more alkaline earth metal compound, and a selective catalytic reduction zone on a monolithic substrate, the selective catalytic reduction zone comprising copper or iron loaded on a second support, the second support comprising a molecular sieve.

An exhaust gas aftertreatment component includes a ceramic carrier body with a plurality of axial flow channels, wherein the carrier body has an inner region and an outer region, which radially surrounds the inner region. A cell density of the carrier body is smaller in the inner region than a cell density in the outer region. At least the outer region of the carrier body has a coaling, wherein the coating of the outer region has an HC adsorber function for a reversible adsorption of unburnt hydrocarbons. An exhaust gas system, which is equipped with such an exhaust gas aftertreatment component, and a vehicle, which has such an exhaust gas system are also provided.

System and method of purifying exhaust gas provided with lean NOx trap and selective catalytic reduction catalyst

A system for purifying an exhaust gas includes an engine, a lean NOx trap (LNT) mounted on the exhaust pipe, a dosing module mounted at the exhaust pipe downstream of the LNT, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst mounted at the exhaust pipe downstream of the dosing module, and a controller for performing a denitrification (DeNOx) share between the LNT and the SCR catalyst according to a driving condition of the engine, wherein the controller predicts a NOx purifying ratio of the SCR catalyst according to the driving condition of the engine and adjusts a regeneration efficiency of the LNT based on an actual NOx purifying ratio of the SCR catalyst.
