A mixer for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a plate-shaped mixer body (26) with an incoming flow side (36) to be arranged oriented in the upstream direction in relation to an exhaust gas flow (H.sub.A1) and with an outflow side (38) to be arranged oriented in the downstream direction in relation to the exhaust gas flow (H.sub.A1), a first exhaust gas flow-through opening (30) in the mixer body (26), a reactant-receiving body (42) carried on the mixer body (26) in the area of the first exhaust gas flow-through opening (30), as well as a plurality of second exhaust gas flow-through openings (34) in the mixer body (26). The second exhaust gas flow-through openings (34) are arranged surrounding the first exhaust gas flow-through opening (30) in the mixer body (26).
Catalyst warning apparatus
A catalyst warming apparatus includes an air blower, a fuel feeder, and an air blowing controller. The air blower is disposed between an engine and a purification catalyst in an exhaust pipe communicating with the engine and is configured to blow air toward the purification catalyst. The fuel feeder is configured to cause the purification catalyst to retain fuel. The air blowing controller is configured to start driving the air blower at a predetermined start timing before a start of the engine.
NOVEL THREE-ZONE TWO-LAYER TWC CATALYST IN GASOLINE WASTE GAS APPLICATIONS
A three-way catalyst article, and its use in an exhaust system for internal combustion engines, is disclosed. The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end with an axial length L; an inlet catalyst layer beginning at the inlet end and extending for less than the axial length L, wherein the inlet catalyst layer comprises an inlet palladium component; an outlet catalyst layer beginning at the outlet end and extending for less than the axial length L, wherein the outlet catalyst layer comprises an outlet rhodium component; and wherein the outlet catalyst layer overlaps with the inlet catalyst layer.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING FLOW DISTRIBUTION IN AN AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM
An aftertreatment component includes an inlet connector tube, an outlet connector tube, a chamber, a flow dissipater, and a substrate. The inlet connector tube receives exhaust gasses. The chamber is between the inlet connector tube and the outlet connector tube. The flow dissipater is positioned around the inlet connector tube and within the chamber. The flow dissipater receives the exhaust gasses from the inlet connector tube and includes a plurality of perforations. The plurality of perforations defines an open area of the flow dissipater. The open area of the flow dissipater is greatest proximate to the inlet connector tube and progressively decreasing proximate to the outlet connector tube. The substrate is positioned within the chamber and receives the exhaust gasses from the flow dissipater and provides the treated exhaust gasses to the outlet connector tube. The exhaust gases are expelled through the flow dissipater via the plurality of perforations.
Internal combustion engine with turbocharger
An internal combustion engine with a turbocharger includes a catalyst, downstream of a turbine, in an exhaust passage. The internal combustion engine includes a waste gate, and a waste gate valve. The internal combustion engine further includes a flow-adjusting member or a flow-adjusting mechanism. The flow-adjusting member disperses a flow of exhaust gas from the waste gate when the opening degree of the waste gate valve is small and concentrates the flow when the opening degree of the waste gate valve is large. The flow-adjusting mechanism switches between a dispersed state in which the flow is dispersed and a concentrate state in which the flow is concentrated.
ROCKER BASED BLEEDER ENGINE BRAKE
An exhaust valve rocker arm assembly operable in an engine braking mode includes a rocker arm configured to rotate about a rocker shaft defining a pressurized fluid supply conduit, the rocker arm having a fluid supply passage defined therein. An engine brake capsule is disposed in the rocker arm and in fluid communication with the fluid supply passage. The engine brake capsule is configured to selectively move from a retracted position to an extended position where the engine brake capsule engages and partially opens an exhaust valve to perform a bleeder brake operation. A reset pin assembly is configured to selectively drain fluid from the engine brake capsule.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
An exhaust system is disclosed. A method of providing the exhaust system is also included. A vehicle may implement the exhaust system. In certain examples, the exhaust system includes a muffler having an exhaust inlet and an exhaust outlet. The exhaust system also includes a housing disposed around the muffler. The housing includes, in certain examples, a first exhaust opening disposed adjacent the exhaust outlet and configured to receive exhaust gasses from the exhaust outlet and direct the exhaust gasses away from the exhaust system in a normal operating mode, and a second exhaust opening configured to draw in ambient air in the normal operating mode.
