Capacitance-based vehicular component protection systems and configurations
A vehicular component protection system is provided that includes: a controller and a vehicular component; two electrodes electrically coupled to the controller and near the component; a shorting element coupled to the component; and a resistor electrically coupled to the element and controller. The controller activates an alarm upon detecting a change in capacitance between the electrodes or continuity between the element and the resistor. Further, the controller may activate the alarm upon detecting a change in capacitance between the electrodes that exceeds the predetermined capacitance over a predetermined time threshold. In addition, the predetermined capacitance and time threshold can be set to filter false positives caused by one or more of weather conditions, wind-driven objects, and animals.
Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Device
An ink dispersal unit designed to spray someone attempting to illegally remove a catalytic converter. The would-be thief is then easily identified once he or she is covered in ink. The catalytic theft prevention device comprises of a vibration sensor, LiDAR sensor, wireless control, control module, encasing, and an ink dispersal unit.
Anti-theft covering system for catalytic converters
The invention is an anti-theft covering system that can surround an object and make cutting that object inefficient and time consuming. Using flexible, durable, high-heat resistant outer covering and hardened, stranded, metal cabling segments, oriented parallel to one another, and inside the outer covering, the invention makes cutting through it and whatever it covers both inefficient and time consuming.
Alarm system and method for detecting a removal of a catalytic converter or other item
The present invention is directed to an alarm system and method for activating an alarm in the event of an attempt to tamper with and/or remove an automobile's catalytic converter or other mechanical part or item. The alarm system may include a controller, one or more pairs of electrically conductive wires, and an alarm emitter. The controller may be configured to monitor a respective resistance across each pair of electrically conductive wires, and to activate the alarm emitter to emit an alarm when the monitored resistance is greater than a first predetermined value or less than a second predetermined value, wherein the first and second predetermined values are greater and less than the resistance of a respective resistor at the pair of electrically conductive wires, and may be indicative of an open circuit and a short circuit, respectively.
Systems and methods for detecting/preventing vehicle parts theft
Systems and methods for implementing protections against catalytic converter theft. A vehicle may comprise Ultra-Wideband (UWB) anchors or sensors. The UWB sensors of a vehicle may be used to detect the relative distance and/or location of UWB-capable devices in close proximity to the vehicle. An assessment may be performed using the UWB anchors and/or other sensors to determine whether the presence of the unknown device is indicative of a threat to the vehicle. If a threat is detected, one or more protection steps may be taken.
Catalytic converter anti-theft system
An electrically conductive circuit has a distal end coupled to a catalytic converter of a vehicle. A sensor such as a voltage divider is coupled to a proximal end of this conductive circuit. The voltage divider senses when a resistance associated with the conductive circuit is altered, indicative of catalytic converter tampering. An alarm signal can then be sent to the vehicle horn or otherwise beneficially outputted to warn of the tampering. The conductive circuit preferably includes a length of nichrome wire having a substantial resistance. Reliable electrical connection and tampering avoidance can be provided at the distal end of the nichrome wire by utilizing an electrically conductive washer at the distal tip, covering the nichrome wire with high temperature insulating tape, overlying the tape with a pipe clamp and encapsulating the washer, distal end of the nichrome wire, insulating tape and pipe clamp with a high temperature bonding adhesive.
