Muffler insert, and systems, methods and apparatus for making
Sound-attenuating mufflers and muffler inserts, and systems and methods for fabricating such muffler inserts. Continuous fiberglass roving is fed to a pneumatic jet head which fluffs the roving and presents the fluffed roving to a delivery wand at the exit end of the jet head. A jet head/wand assembly is moved along a three-dimensional path such that the wand delivery tip travels along a predetermined three-dimensional path inside a mold thereby depositing the continuous, fluffed fiberglass strands in the mold along the predetermined path. A terminal end portion of a liquid resin conduit is mounted to the fiberglass-dispensing wand, as part of the delivery tip, and drip-feeds liquid resin onto the fiberglass as the fiberglass is being deposited in the mold. The undulating, up and down movement of the delivery tip produces a wave-like undulating pattern in the appearance of the rovings in the resulting molded product.
Mounting mat including inorganic nanoparticles and method for making the same
The present invention relates to a mounting mat for mounting a pollution control device in a catalytic converter, the mounting mat comprising a non-woven mat of inorganic fibers having distributed therein inorganic particles having an average diameter of 1 nm to 100 nm and wherein the mounting mat is free of organic binder or contains organic binder in an amount of not more than 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the mounting mat. The invention further relates to a pollution control device including the mounting mat and to a method of making the mounting mat.
Exhaust chamber for saddle-riding type vehicle
An exhaust chamber is disposed in an exhaust passage through which exhaust gas from an engine passes. The exhaust chamber includes: an inner case having a chamber expansion region therein; and an outer case configured to cover a portion of the inner case. The inner case has a first inner case half and a second inner case half which are obtained by division into two parts, and is formed by the first inner case half and the second inner case half being joined to each other at an inner joining portion. The outer case has a first outer case piece and a second outer case piece which are spaced from each other. The first outer case piece and the second outer case piece are each joined to a portion, on an outer surface of the inner case, which portion is different from the inner joining portion.
Reflective insulation system
Insulation system for thermoacoustic insulation of a component to be insulated, such as an exhaust gas component, comprising a fiber molded part having a surface facing away from the component to be insulated, where the surface facing away is at least in part jacketed with a cladding, and having an insulation surface facing the component to be insulated, where the fiber molded part is applied to the component to be insulated such that at least one cavity is formed between a portion of the insulation surface of the fiber molded part and the component to be insulated.
INTERCONNECTION SYSTEM OF A UREA-BASED REDUCING AGENT INJECTOR TO AN AFTER-TREATMENT AN EXHAUST GAS DEVICE
System for interconnecting a urea-based reducing agent injector to an exhaust gas post-treatment device including an injector, a flange arranged to couple the injector to an exhaust gas line, a gasket arranged between the injector and the flange, wherein the gasket is a sandwich, formed by two external layers and an intermediate layer formed by insulating material.
ENGINE WITH EXPLOSION PROTECTION
The exhaust system of a diesel engine includes components such as a turbocharger and an exhaust manifold which can have very high internal temperatures (e.g., any surface having a temperature above 135 C.). In accordance with the invention the components subject to the high temperatures are coated with at least a first layer of thermally insulating material and a second layer overlying the first layer to provide surface protection. So coated, the temperature of the outer coated surfaces of these components is brought below an undesirably high level. Also, selected ones of the components may be water cooled and/or have a fitted jacket and/or be placed within an explosion proof enclosure. The input fuel line may also include a magnetic explosion proof fuel economizer to control the combustion process and reduce the internal temperature.
Thermoplastic composite muffler
A muffler for internal combustion engines including a hollow body having an inlet opening and an outlet opening, an inlet pipe extending into the hollow body through the inlet opening an outlet pipe extending out of the hollow body through the outlet opening, wherein the hollow body is formed by a material comprising a fiber lining and a composite structure, and wherein the fiber lining partially penetrates the composite structure.
SILENCER DUCT WITH SELF-SUPPORTING ACOUSTIC ABSORBING MEMBER
A silencer duct includes at least one element including a three-dimensional (3D) chamber having a portion that is at least one of non-vertical or non-linear. An acoustic absorbing member is self-supporting such that is may be positioned within the portion to substantially fill the portion, but does not sag or droop over time.
