Exhaust gas purification filter
An exhaust gas purification filter comprises: a casing; a porous dividing wall which partitions the inside of the casing into a honeycomb shape; and cells enclosed by the dividing wall. A pore path length distribution of the dividing wall, when expressed by a frequency histogram per 10 m of the pore path length of the dividing wall, has an integrated frequency of at least 58%. The integrated frequency is a maximum value of a value obtained by summing the frequencies of a total of three adjacent levels which include the maximum peak frequency. The dividing wall preferably has a gas permeability coefficient k of at least 0.810.sup.12 m.sup.2.
Substrate shape, geometry, positioning, and/or cell density to improve aftertreatment performance
An aftertreatment component's shape, entrance geometry, and/or position within an aftertreatment assembly can be modified for local and/or bulk exhaust flow control. In some implementations, a body of the aftertreatment component has a non-circular cross-section, a non-circular opening, and/or a variable face geometry. The non-circular cross-section and/or opening can be of a variety of different shapes.

HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE AND DIE
A honeycomb structure includes a central area and a reinforced outer peripheral area. A reference boundary cell with an inner wall orthogonal to an imaginary straight line, adjacent to the honeycomb center, and thinner than an outer wall adjacent to the honeycomb periphery has a reference wall different in wall thickness from the other three cell walls among the remaining four cell walls excluding the inner wall and the outer wall. The honeycomb structure includes a reference Y-shaped unit having the reference wall, the outer wall, and a cell wall. The honeycomb structure includes a plurality of Y-shaped units extending in the same directions as the reference Y-shaped unit. For every Y-shaped unit in the central area and the reinforced outer peripheral area of the honeycomb structure, the cell walls of each Y-shaped unit has an equal wall thickness.
Catalytic wall-flow filter with partial surface coating
A catalytic wall-flow monolith filter for use in an emission treatment system comprises a wall flow substrate having a first and a second face, and first and second pluralities of channels. The first plurality of channels is open at the first face and closed at the second face. The second plurality of channels is open at the second face and closed at the first face. The monolith filter comprises a porous substrate having a first zone extending from the first face towards the second face and a second zone extending from the second face towards the first face. Each of the zones are less that filter length. A first catalytic material is distributed throughout the first zone of the porous substrate, and a second catalytic material covers at least a portion of the surfaces in the second zone of the porous substrate and is not distributed throughout the porous substrate.
PARTICULATE FILTER WITH VARIABLE CANAL GEOMETRY AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING SUCH A FILTER
The invention relates to a particulate filter for collecting particulate matter from the exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine, having a canal geometry that evolves along the entire length of the canal, such that: the perimeter of the cross section of the canal decreases continuously from an open end (310) of the canal (370) as far as a reference cross section (350) of the canal, then increases continuously from the reference cross section as far as a closed end (360) of the canal, and the surface area of the cross section of the canal decreases monotonously from the open end of the canal as far as the closed end. The closed ends are situated in the body of the filter near the outlet and inlet faces respectively for the inlet and outlet canals of the filter.
HONEYCOMB FILTER
A honeycomb filter includes a pillar-shaped honeycomb structure having porous partition walls provided, surrounding a plurality of cells which serve as fluid through channels extending from an inflow end face to an outflow end face, and porous plugging portions provided either at the ends on the inflow end face or the outflow end face of the cells, wherein the plugging portions are composed of a porous material, the honeycomb structure has a central region and a circumferential region, and a ratio of an area of the circumferential region with respect to that of the central region ranges from 0.1 to 0.5, a plugging length L1 in the cell extending direction of a central plugging portion in the central region is larger than a plugging length L2 of a circumferential plugging portion in the circumferential region, L1 ranges from 7 to 9 mm, and L2 from 3 to 6 mm.
