Method and device for controlling the pressure of the exhaust gas of a machine
The invention relates to a method for controlling the pressure of the exhaust gas of a machine, in particular an internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas is discharged from the machine via an exhaust gas line, and the exhaust gas line has a regulating device, preferably comprising a throttle valve or a throttle flap, said regulating device delimiting a pressure-regulated section of the exhaust gas line. Gas, preferably air, which is regulated into the pressure-regulated section via a compressed gas line is supplied such that the pressure in the pressure-regulated section is substantially kept at a constant value. The invention additionally relates to a corresponding device.
Exhaust system for engine
An exhaust system provided to an engine having an output shaft extending in a specific direction, includes an exhaust passage, a turbocharger having a turbine housing, and purifying parts. The exhaust passage includes a first passage part extending to one side in the specific direction from the turbine housing, a third passage part extending in the specific direction below the turbine housing, and a second passage part extending upward from one end part of the third passage part in the specific direction. A center axis of the second passage part inclines so that an upper end thereof is located on one side of a lower end in the specific direction. The first passage part has in an upper surface thereof an inclined part to which one of a sensor configured to detect a property of exhaust gas and an injector configured to inject fluid into exhaust gas, is attached.
Rotary Valve
A rotary turbine bypass valve comprises a valve chamber and a valve rotor. The chamber is positioned at a junction of an inlet port, an outlet port and a bypass port. The inlet port is configured to receive exhaust gas, the outlet port is configured to fluidly communicate with a turbine inlet, and the bypass port is configured to fluidly communicate with an exhaust aftertreatment device.
The rotor comprises a first and second recess, the first recess defining a primary flow passage, the second recess defining a secondary flow passage. The rotor is rotatable between a first position in which the rotor substantially blocks exhaust gas flow through the bypass port and a second position in which the rotor permits such. The secondary flow passage is configured to selectively permit fluid communication between the inlet port and the bypass port when the primary flow passage is partially blocked.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING A TURBOCHARGED ENGINE
A control system for an engine including a turbocharger disposed downstream of a plurality of cylinders. The control system includes an engine sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of an operational characteristic of the engine. The control system includes a first valve configured to control exhaust flow through a first set of cylinders from the plurality of cylinders. The control system includes a second valve configured to control exhaust flow through a second set of cylinders from the plurality of cylinders. The control system includes a controller communicably coupled to the engine sensor, the first valve, and the second valve. The controller is configured to receive the signal generated by the engine sensor. The controller is configured to actuate the first valve and the second valve based on the received signal. The first valve and the second valve are actuated to adjust exhaust flow received by the turbocharger.
Turbocharger system for a two-stroke engine
A turbocharger and method of controlling the same includes a turbine housing comprising an inlet and an outlet, turbine wheel coupled to a shaft. The turbine housing comprising a first scroll and a second scroll for fluidically coupling the inlet and the turbine wheel. The first scroll has a first end adjacent the inlet and a second end adjacent the turbine wheel. The second scroll has a third end adjacent the inlet and a fourth end adjacent the turbine wheel. An exhaust gas diverter valve is coupled to the turbine housing restricting flow into the first scroll or the second scroll.
Turbocharger system for a two-stroke engine having selectable boost modes
A system and method of controlling a turbocharged engine system includes receiving a boost mode selection signal and controlling the turbocharged engine system in response to the boost mode selection signal.
Turbocharger and turbine housing therefor
A turbine housing for a turbocharger includes an inlet passage and an outlet passage connected to a turbine housing body. The outlet passage has a longitudinal axis and comprises a first section and a second section downstream of the first section. The first section includes a first inlet opening having a first cross-sectional area, a first outlet opening downstream of the first inlet opening, and a first length between the first inlet opening and the first outlet opening, wherein the first section has an opening angle between 0° and 10° relative to the longitudinal axis along the first length. The second section downstream of the first section includes a second inlet opening, a second outlet opening downstream of the second inlet opening, a second cross-sectional area at least 1.8 times greater than the first cross-sectional area, and a second length between the second inlet opening and the second outlet opening that is less than 50% of the first length.
Replacement exhaust manifold for retrofitting a turbocharger to an engine
A replacement exhaust manifold for retrofitting a turbocharger to an engine includes a central channel body, an exhaust connection, a turbo connection, and a plurality of exhaust ports. The central channel body has a first end and a second end. The exhaust connection is connected to the first end of the central channel body. The exhaust connection is configured to be attached to an exhaust system for the engine. The turbo connection is connected to the second end of the central channel body. The turbo connection is configured to be attached to the turbocharger. The plurality of exhaust ports are along the central channel body. Each of the exhaust ports are configured to be attached to a corresponding exhaust outlet port on a cylinder head of the engine. Wherein, the replacement exhaust manifold is configured to be attached to the engine for retrofitting the turbocharger to the engine.
