Electromagnetic Actuation of Elastomeric Valve for Fluid Flow Control
Actuation of an elastomeric valve with an electromagnet is disclosed wherein an elastomeric valve material may comprise a steel disc embedded in its wall to control the flow of fluid. In response to an electric current being applied to an electromagnet, a magnetic field attracts a disc embedded in the elastomeric valve material. The elastomeric valve would then move towards the electromagnet to create a seal, thereby blocking the flow of fluid.
Systems and methods for delivery of therapeutic agents
An iontophoresis system includes a preloaded reservoir containing one or more doses of a therapeutic agent. As a result, the therapeutic agent does not have to be loaded into the reservoir prior to use. In such a system, the preloaded reservoir is generally disposable. Various components of the iontophoresis system can be combined with the reservoir in a disposable cartridge that is selectively connectable to other, reusable components of the iontophoresis system. In addition, the entire iontophoresis system can be formed from one or more disposable, one-time-use modules.
COLD PLASMA GENERATING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A system and method for cosmetic treatment of a region of a biological surface using cold atmospheric plasma is presented. In one embodiment, a method of treatment of a region of a biological surface with cold plasma includes: selecting a post-treatment formulation; and applying the post-treatment formulation to the region pre-treated by the cold plasma.
FLUID SKIN TREATMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
The present invention relates to devices for dermatology and more particularly to fluid enhanced skin treatment system for skin rejuvenation that can optionally use an abrasive probe for removing epidermal layers while contemporaneously providing for the infusion of therapeutic fluids into the skin.
Flow balancing devices, methods, and systems
The disclosed subject matter relates to extracorporeal blood processing or other processing of fluids. Volumetric fluid balance, a required element of many such processes, may be achieved with multiple pumps or other proportioning or balancing devices which are to some extent independent of each other. This need may arise in treatments that involve multiple fluids. Safe and secure mechanisms to ensure fluid balance in such systems are described.
Directed fluidics
Methods and systems for administering directed fluidics during a medical procedure for removing an object are disclosed. A method includes inserting first and second medical instruments into a treatment site, providing irrigation and aspiration of the treatment site through the first and second medical instruments, determining a characteristic of one of the irrigation and the aspiration, and selecting a characteristic of the other of the irrigation and aspiration based on the determined characteristic.

ULTRASONIC DEVICE FOR ULTRASOUND ASSISTED LIPOPLASTY
An ultrasonic device for an ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty is provided. The ultrasonic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a handpiece; an ultrasonic driving unit provided inside the handpiece; a probe including one end portion connected to the ultrasonic driving unit inside the handpiece and configured to extend outward of the handpiece from the one end portion; and a protection unit formed to extend along a longitudinal direction of the probe and to surround an outer circumferential surface of the probe. A heat-insulation member is provided in at least a portion of an inner circumferential surface of the protection unit.
Suction evacuation device
A method for removing a stone from a patient comprising the steps of: providing a suction evacuation assembly which includes a sheath and one or more side arms; inserting and positioning a distal end of the sheath into a lumen or cavity of a patient's body containing a stones; connecting a tube to one of the side arms and to a collection bottle; connecting another tube to the collection bottle and a negative pressure system; visualizing the stone or foreign body using a scope inserted through the assembly; activating the negative pressure system in order to remove the stone from the cavity if the diameter of the stone is narrower than an inside diameter of the sheath and the side arm, or performing a lithotripsy on the stone to create fragments with a decreased diameter which allow the passage through the assembly; and collecting the stone in the collection bottle.
ULTRASOUND-PLACED PAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH SUBCUTANEOUS CATHETER AND NEUROMODULATION
A pain management system with a neuromodulation subsystem includes a medication dispenser located external to a patient. A subcutaneous port is placed internally to the patient and receives a quantity of medication. The port can be filled from a syringe or medication dispensing system. An echogenic catheter can be placed in proximity to a patient's nerve or nerve center using a point-of-care ultrasound imaging system. A pain management method includes the steps of placing a subcutaneous port using ultrasound imaging for guidance and administering pharmacologic agents via a catheter connected to the port. Neuromodulation can be applied as an alternative to or in conjunction with medication. Alternative embodiment catheter systems include echogenic tips, a stylet, and multiple internal coil sections to facilitate accurate placement. Alternative embodiment pain management methods include the steps of utilizing such features for optimizing patient outcomes.
