Method for operating a drive device and corresponding drive device
A method for operating a drive device which includes a drive unit and an exhaust gas purification device arranged in an exhaust gas line for purifying exhaust gas from the drive unit. The exhaust gas purification device is heated at least temporarily by an electrical heating assembly, which includes a heating element for heating a fluid and a bypass line branching off the exhaust gas purification device from the exhaust gas line on the one hand and opening into it on the other hand, in which a fluid pump for conveying the fluid through the exhaust gas purification device is arranged.
Exhaust gas purification apparatus, and method for thawing liquid reducing agent or precursor thereof
An exhaust gas purification apparatus includes: a reduction catalyst converter that reduces and purifies nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas; a tank that stores a liquid reducing agent or precursor thereof; and an injection nozzle that injects the liquid reducing agent or precursor thereof stored in the tank on an exhaust gas upstream side of the reduction catalyst converter. Some of the exhaust gas flowing through an exhaust pipe is diverted to the tank by a bypass pipe, to cause an exchange of heat between the diverted exhaust gas and the liquid reducing agent or precursor thereof stored in the tank, thereby thawing the liquid reducing agent or precursor thereof frozen in the tank.
Cooling system for vehicle and controlling method thereof
A cooling system for a vehicle may include a cooling water temperature sensor, a cooling circulation fluid passage including first, second and third fluid passages, wherein the cooling water exhausted from the engine may be branched into the first fluid passage provided with a heater core, the second fluid passage provided with a radiator, and the third fluid passage provided with an exhaust heat recovery apparatus, a fluid flow adjusting valve provided on a point at which the cooling water passing through the cooling water temperature sensor may be branched into the first fluid passage to the third fluid passage to adjust a flow of the cooling water, and a controlling part controlling the first fluid passage to the third fluid passage to be selectively opened or closed by operating the fluid flow adjusting valve depending on the temperature of the cooling water, in a heating mode and a non-heating mode.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING CONTAMINANT STORAGE IN A STORAGE CATALYST
An internal combustion engine system includes an engine and an aftertreatment system that is connected to the engine to receive an exhaust flow from the engine. The aftertreatment system includes a contaminant storage catalyst for storing contaminants produced by the engine during cold start and low temperature operating conditions, and a NO.sub.x reduction catalyst downstream of the storage catalyst for receiving the contaminants released from the storage catalyst when temperature conditions in the exhaust flow and/or NO.sub.x reduction catalyst are above an effective temperature threshold for NO.sub.x reduction. A contaminant amount stored on the storage catalyst can be estimated in response to one or more operating parameters to manage a storage capacity of the storage catalyst. A bypass can used to bypass the storage catalyst to preserve storage capacity for a subsequent cold start condition.
Heat exchanger
A heat exchanger includes: a hollow pillar shaped honeycomb structure; a first cylindrical member fitted to a surface of an outer peripheral wall of the pillar shaped honeycomb structure; a second cylindrical member fitted to a surface of an inner peripheral wall of the pillar shaped honeycomb structure; a cylindrical guide member having a portion, the portion being disposed on a radially inner side of the second cylindrical member with a distance so as to form the flow path for the first fluid; an upstream cylindrical member connecting an upstream end of the first cylindrical member to an upstream side of the guide member; and a downstream cylindrical member connected to a downstream end of the first cylindrical member. The guide member includes an inclined portion that inclines to its downstream side.
Heat recovery component for an exhaust gas system
Heat recovery component for an exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine, comprising an inlet, an outlet, a heat recovery branch conduit comprising a heat recovery branch conduit inlet, a heat recovery branch conduit outlet, and a heat exchanger arranged in the heat recovery branch conduit, a bypass branch conduit being separate from the heat recovery branch conduit, and a valve being configured to be rotatable between a heat recovery end position and a bypass end position, the valve being arranged to be rotatable around a rotation axis located in the bypass branch conduit, wherein the valve comprises a bypass valve flap and a heat recovery valve flap, the bypass valve flap and the heat recovery valve flap being operatively connected by a support.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COLD OPERATION NOx BURDEN REDUCTION
A method comprises determining that an aftertreatment system is in a cold-operation mode; initiating a low engine-out NOx (LEON) mode by controlling a component of a vehicle containing the aftertreatment system to decrease an instantaneous engine out NOx (EONOx) amount and to increase exhaust energy relative to a normal operation mode for an engine of the vehicle; receiving information indicative of an operating status of the vehicle during the LEON mode; disengaging the LEON mode; subsequent to disengaging the LEON mode, initiating a thermal management (TM) mode for the aftertreatment system, wherein the TM mode is initiated by controlling a component of the vehicle to increase fueling to the engine for a power level by reducing engine efficiency and directing excess fuel to the aftertreatment system; receiving information indicative of an operating status of the vehicle during the TM mode; and disengaging the TM mode.
Engine exhaust aftertreatment device and method
An engine exhaust aftertreatment device includes a first exhaust treatment unit and/or a second exhaust treatment unit; the first exhaust treatment unit includes a first bypass pipeline and a first connection pipe provided between a DPF and an SCR; the second exhaust treatment unit comprises a second bypass pipeline and a second connection pipeline provided between a DOC and the DPF, one end of the second bypass pipeline being in communication with the turbine front exhaust pipe, and the other end of the second bypass pipeline being in communication with the second connection pipeline; when it is detected that an engine satisfies a starting condition of the first exhaust treatment unit, the first exhaust treatment unit starts; and when it is detected that the engine satisfies a starting condition of the second exhaust treatment unit, the second exhaust treatment unit starts.

Method and system for the removal of nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and particulate matter from engine exhaust gas at cold start conditions.
Catalyst early activation control at cold engine start
An ECM executes a catalyst early activation control at cold start of an engine such that the activation of a catalyzer is promoted by opening a WGV. Further, the ECM performs a diagnosis process of, during execution of the catalyst early activation control, repeating opening and closing of the WGV with a given period and diagnosing whether or not the WGV is stuck, based on whether or not a fluctuation component with the same period as the period of the opening and closing of the WGV is included in output from an intake manifold pressure sensor during the repetition.
