Method for forming a collar in a muffler housing
Method for forming a collar in a muffler shell including: providing a muffler shell made of a metal sheet and forming a muffler housing, the muffler shell having an exhaust gas opening, providing a collar forming head having a rotational axis and at least two movable expanders, introducing a collar forming head into a muffler housing, moving the expanders of the collar forming head introduced into the muffler shell radially away from the rotational axis of the collar forming head from a retracted position to an expanded position rotating the collar forming head around the of the collar forming head, bringing the rotating expanded collar forming head in contact with the metal sheet forming an outwardly projecting collar around the exhaust gas opening by flaring the edge of the metal sheet.
A sound attenuator as well as elements and a method of production thereof
In the present disclosure is proposed a novel sound attenuating element for, at least in part, providing adequate or preferably improved sound attenuating properties without excessively impeding flow while being susceptible to automated or machine assisted manufacturing or for providing the public with a useful alternative. The novel sound attenuating element is formed at least in part by an assembly of a plurality of components which are successively connected to each other, which each exhibit a curved shape, and which form at least one non-planar ruled surface when assembled.
HEATING ELEMENT FOR AN EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION DEVICE
A heating element for a vehicle exhaust gas purification device is provided and is to be disposed in an exhaust gas duct. The heating element extends around a central axis. and comprises a central support defined around the central axis, a heating grid extending radially around the central support, and a liaison element. The liaison element comprises a plurality of mounting brackets comprising at least a first part connecting the mounting brackets to the heating grid, at least a second part connecting the bracket to the duct, intended to be directly or indirectly attached to the duct, and at least one intermediate section connecting the first connecting part to the second connecting part. The connecting element is at least partially radially flexible.
Bellows having tweezers-shaped corrugated portions and method for manufacturing same
A bellows having tweezers-shaped corrugated portions for increasing resistance and restoring force against torsion includes: a first flat part having a flat cylindrical shape; a second flat part having a flat cylindrical shape and disposed opposite to the first flat part; and a plurality of corrugated portions, each having a tweezers shape and disposed between the first flat part and the second flat part, wherein each of the plurality of corrugated portions is sequentially connected to each other, so as to increase resistance and restoring force against torsion.
EXHAUST SYSTEM COMPONENT STRUCTURE
An exhaust system component structure is provided. The structure has an exhaust passage through which exhaust of an internal combustion engine passes, is configured by a plurality of exhaust components, and includes: an upstream pipe having an upstream passage constituting the exhaust passage; a downstream pipe having a downstream passage constituting the exhaust passage; a first fixing surface provided on the upstream pipe and a second fixing surface provided on the downstream pipe, fixed so that the upstream passage and the downstream passage are in communication with each other. A projection part projecting from the first fixing surface on an outer side of the upstream passage toward the downstream pipe is provided. The projection part is provided with a protrusion part projecting toward an outer side of the exhaust passage. A groove part is provided at a position facing the protrusion part in the downstream pipe.
SYSTEM FOR REDUCING BAND CLAMP FAILURE
A system and a method for reducing band clamp failure on a multi-piece canister having an at least one first section coupled to an at least one second section by a band clamp, the system and method comprising a band clamp cover, wherein the band clamp cover comprises a cover first section and a cover second section, the cover first section is coupled to the cover second section at a first end by a hinge, the cover first section is coupled to the cover second section at a second end by removable fastener, the band clamp cover having a shape of the multi-piece canister, wherein the band clamp cover has a channel that encompasses the band clamp.
Support structure for exhaust system part
A support structure for an exhaust system part that configures an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine for a vehicle includes a bracket and a support member. The bracket includes a first plate and a second plate. The first plate has both end portions attached to the second plate, and the second plate has both end portions attached to the exhaust system part. A first space is defined between the first plate and the second plate, and a second space is defined between the second plate and the exhaust system part. Each of the first space and the second space has a first open end disposed on the vehicle front side, and has a second open end disposed on the vehicle rear side. The first plate, the first space, the second plate, and the second space are disposed between the support member and the exhaust system part.
