An exhaust gas system clamping device for clamping at least two components of an exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle has at least one positioning unit and at least one holding unit. The two components of the exhaust gas system can be transferred by the positioning unit into a predetermined position and can be secured by the holding unit in the predetermined position, the holding unit being a vacuum system having at least one vacuum suction cup.

High power density insulated exhaust heating system

A heating apparatus for a fluid flow system having a fluid conduit includes at least one heater element and a support member within the conduit. The at least one heater element includes a resistance wire, a sheath, and an electrically insulating material. The sheath has a closed profile shape that extends along a tortuous path through the container body and surrounds the resistance wire along the tortuous path. The insulating material is disposed about the wire between the wire and the sheath. The support member restricts movement of the at least one heater element relative to the fluid conduit. The support member defines a corrugated geometry that follows the tortuous path while contacting the sheath along a majority of a length of the sheath. The support member increases heat transfer from the at least one heater element to a fluid flowing through the fluid conduit.

A muffler brace assembly for a vehicle includes a muffler and a pipe connected to an inlet of the muffler. A brace member has a first end and a second end. The first end of is connected to the pipe and the second end is connected to the muffler. A lowermost portion of the brace member is disposed lower than lowermost portions of the pipe and the muffler.

ELECTRICALLY HEATABLE HEATING DISK FOR EXHAUST GAS AFTERTREATMENT

A heating disk for heating up a stream of exhaust gas and/or a component for exhaust gas aftertreatment has a honeycomb body, wound from a plurality of smooth and corrugated metal layers stacked on top of one another. The honeycomb body is received within a carrier shell and an electrical contact is fed through the carrier shell. The honeycomb body is connected to a current source via the electrical contact. The electrical contact has a contact strip within the carrier shell extending in the circumferential direction of the carrier shell. An insulating region is formed between the carrier shell and the contact strip. A plurality of stacks of layers are electrically insulated from one another. Each of the stacks of layers are formed from the plurality of smooth and corrugated metal layers, and which are arranged directly adjacent to one another and conductively connected to the contact strip.

Muffler for Engine

A muffler for an engine includes a muffler body, at least one partition wall, and at least one reinforcing plate. The muffler body has an inner space formed by a shell. The partition wall includes a flange portion which is in tight contact with an inner surface of the shell, and the partition wall divides the inner space of the muffler body into a plurality of chambers. The reinforcing plate is welded on an outer surface of the shell at a position facing the flange portion of the partition wall.

A method of attaching a casted metal part and a metal hose line includes: providing a cast metal part having a cylindrical portion; providing a metal hose line; heating the metal hose line to a temperature of between 500 and 900 degrees Fahrenheit; positioning the inner diameter of the metal hose line over the outer diameter of the cylindrical portion; allowing the metal hose line to cool to reduce the gap between the inner diameter of the metal hose line and the outer diameter of the cast metal part; and forming a first weld along an outer circumference of the metal hose line, wherein the width of the first weld at the connection between the hose line and cast metal part is 50% or less than the metal hose wall thickness.

Component of an exhaust system and method of manufacturing such a component

A component of an exhaust system, in particular of an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, has a double-walled pipe which encloses at least one air gap. The double-walled pipe includes at least two layers positioned radially over each other and attached to each other at a plurality of fixing points distributed over a periphery. At least one of the layers is a structured layer and has a wave structure with a plurality of wave crests and wave troughs distributed along the periphery. For manufacturing the component, at least one sheet metal strip is provided, which is structured in sections to give it a wave form. A brazing material is applied at the intended fixing points. The sheet metal strip is then wound up to form the double-walled pipe. The latter is calibrated, and the layers are connected at the fixing points by induction brazing.
