Exhaust gas system of a motor vehicle
An exhaust gas system of a motor vehicle which has an internal combustion engine with a plurality of cylinder groups, with a first exhaust gas section which is assigned to a first cylinder group of the internal combustion engine, and with a second exhaust gas section which is assigned to a second cylinder group of the internal combustion engine, each exhaust gas section comprising in each case one exhaust gas purification device, and a common silencer interacting with the first exhaust gas section and the second exhaust gas section, namely in such a way that, starting from the exhaust gas purification device of the first exhaust gas section and starting from the exhaust gas purification device of the second exhaust gas section, in each case, a first part exhaust gas section opens into an interior of the common silencer.
Sinuous balanced tailpipe system
A sinuous balanced mid-pipe exhaust system has a straight mid-pipe and a sinuous mid-pipe disposed intermediate manifold and muffler. The manifold has a differential bilateral manifold pipe length. The longer manifold pipe connected to the straight mid-pipe and the shorter manifold pipe connected to the sinuous mid-pipe. Sinuous mid-pipe has 2-3 sinusoidal curved segments such that a sinuous gas flow path therethrough substantially equals the straight pipe flow path length and the manifold differential pipe length. The method balances and equalizes gas flows by defining straight gas flow path, having a path length and defining a sinuous gas flow path with at least two sinusoidal segments which is equal to the path length and the differential path length.
Acoustically tuned muffler
A muffler for receiving exhaust gas from a combustion engine may include a shell, an inlet pipe, at least one outlet pipe, one or more baffles, and an internal communication pipe. The inlet pipe may extend through the shell. The outlet pipe may be in fluid communication with the inlet pipe and may be at least partially disposed within the shell. The baffles are disposed within the shell and cooperate with the shell to define a plurality of chambers. The internal communication pipe may be disposed entirely within the shell and may be in fluid communication with the inlet pipe. The internal communication pipe may include an inlet opening and first and outlet openings. The first outlet opening is open to and in direct fluid communication with one of the chambers. The second outlet opening is open to and in direct fluid communication with another one of the chambers.
Exhaust muffler
An exhaust muffler includes first and second pipes which extend through a casing, and which are disposed so that a downstream end of the first pipe faces an upstream end of the second pipe, wherein the downstream end of the first pipe and the upstream end of the second pipe are disposed so as to be spaced from each other in an axial direction, one end part of a support member having a circular cross section that has a smaller diameter than those of the first and the second pipes is fixed to one of a first lid member covering an opening at the downstream end of the first pipe and a second lid member covering an opening at the upstream end of the second pipe, and the other end part of the support member is slidably fitted to the other of the first and the second lid members.
Acoustically tuned muffler
A muffler may include a shell, first and second baffles, an inlet pipe, first and second outlet pipes, and a communication pipe. The first and second baffles cooperate with the shell to define first, second and third chambers. The first inlet pipe may extend through the shell and may provide exhaust gas to at least one of the first and second chambers. Exhaust gas in the first chamber exits the muffler through the first outlet pipe. Exhaust gas in the second chamber exits the muffler through the second outlet pipe. The communication pipe may include first, second and third openings. The first opening is in communication with the first chamber. The second opening is in communication with the second chamber. The third opening is in communication with the third chamber. The first and second chambers may be in communication with the third chamber through the communication pipe.
Muffler unit
A muffler unit includes: an inner cylinder connected with a first exhaust pipe; a first outlet pipe that is connected with a downstream end of the inner cylinder and through which exhaust gas is discharged; an outer cylinder that houses thereinside the inner cylinder and defines, between the outer cylinder and an outer surface of the inner cylinder, an expansion chamber communicating with the second exhaust pipe; and a second outlet pipe that houses thereinside the first outlet pipe and defines, between the second outlet pipe and an outer surface of the first outlet pipe, a path connected with the expansion chamber to thereby be used for discharging the exhaust gas. Accordingly, there is provided the muffler unit having a size reduced compared with a configuration including two mufflers disposed in parallel with each other.
Cross-pipe exhaust system
A cross-pipe exhaust assembly includes: a first inlet collector splitting into an upper outlet and a lower outlet; a second inlet collector splitting into an upper outlet and a lower outlet; a first outlet collector joining an upper inlet and a lower inlet into a single outlet of the first outlet collector; a second outlet collector joining an upper inlet and a lower inlet into a single outlet of the second outlet collector; a first inline conduit located between the first inlet collector and the first outlet collector; a second inline conduit located between the second inlet collector and the second outlet collector; a first crossover conduit extending between the first inlet collector and the second outlet collector; and a second crossover conduit extending between the second inlet collector and the first outlet collector.
APPARATUS FOR RECOVERING EXHAUST HEAT USING A DUAL TUBE
The present invention relates to an apparatus installed in a vehicle for recovering exhaust heat. The apparatus includes: a housing having therein a heat exchanger and having a front through hole through which exhaust gas is introduced and a rear through hole through which the introduced exhaust gas is discharged; a first tube installed in the housing and having a dual tube structure; and a second tube connected to the first tube and having a dual tube structure. A coolant introduced through the second tube passes through the first tube and exchanges heat with the exhaust gas in the heat exchanger in the housing. The coolant, which has exchanged heat, is discharged to an engine through the first tube and the second tube.
Variable valve for muffler and dual muffler having the same
A variable valve for a muffler may include an actuator; a valve tube having an inlet into which exhaust gas is flowed, and a first outlet and a second outlet into which the exhaust gas is discharged, and installed in a middle of a tail pipe into which the exhaust gas is discharged from a muffler; and a valve body in a ball shape rotatably installed in the valve tube, and rotatable by a rotational force delivered from the actuator to block the inlet, or to communicate the inlet with a selected one of the first outlet and the second outlet according to a rotated state of the valve body.
Catalytic Converter for a Motor Vehicle, as Well as a Motor Vehicle
A catalytic converter includes a housing and a catalyst carrier disposed in a receiving chamber of the housing. The housing has an inlet opening and at least two outlet openings. The inlet opening is formed in an inlet wall which completely seals the receiving chamber, except for the inlet opening, in a direction running parallel to a main direction of flow and pointing away from the at least two outlet openings and the inlet wall extends in a plane running perpendicular to the main direction of flow. The at least two outlet openings are formed in an outlet wall which completely seals the receiving chamber, except for the at least two outlet openings, in a direction running parallel to the main direction of flow and pointing away from the inlet opening and the outlet wall extends in a plane running perpendicular to the main direction of flow.
