Apparatus for recovering exhaust heat using a dual tube
The present invention relates to an apparatus installed in a vehicle for recovering exhaust heat. The apparatus includes: a housing having therein a heat exchanger and having a front through hole through which exhaust gas is introduced and a rear through hole through which the introduced exhaust gas is discharged; a first tube installed in the housing and having a dual tube structure; and a second tube connected to the first tube and having a dual tube structure. A coolant introduced through the second tube passes through the first tube and exchanges heat with the exhaust gas in the heat exchanger in the housing. The coolant, which has exchanged heat, is discharged to an engine through the first tube and the second tube.
PROPULSION UNIT FOR A MARINE VESSEL
A propulsion unit for a marine vessel is adapted to receive power from at least one power supply unit. The propulsion unit includes a stationary part adapted to be mounted to a hull of the marine vessel, and a movable part comprising one or more thrust generating devices adapted to transform the received power into a thrust by acting on water carrying the marine vessel. The propulsion unit is adapted to receive exhaust gases from at least two internal combustion engines, wherein the movable part is adapted to release the exhaust gases into the water.
Method for forming a collar in a muffler housing
Method for forming a collar in a muffler shell including: providing a muffler shell made of a metal sheet and forming a muffler housing, the muffler shell having an exhaust gas opening, providing a collar forming head having a rotational axis and at least two movable expanders, introducing a collar forming head into a muffler housing, moving the expanders of the collar forming head introduced into the muffler shell radially away from the rotational axis of the collar forming head from a retracted position to an expanded position rotating the collar forming head around the of the collar forming head, bringing the rotating expanded collar forming head in contact with the metal sheet forming an outwardly projecting collar around the exhaust gas opening by flaring the edge of the metal sheet.
EXHAUST SYSTEM AND MUFFLER
A muffler for use with an internal combustion engine is provided. The muffler includes a first tube configured to receive a first exhaust stream. The first tube includes a first inlet portion, a first outlet portion spaced apart from the first inlet portion, and a first intermediate portion extending between the first inlet portion and the first outlet portion. The muffler also includes a second tube configured to receive a second exhaust stream. The second tube includes a second inlet portion, a second outlet portion spaced apart from the second inlet portion, and a second intermediate portion extending between the second inlet portion and the second outlet portion. The first intermediate portion and the second intermediate portion cross each other, are at least partially stacked on each other, and are in fluid communication with each other.
Integrated exhaust manifold cooling jacket
Systems for an integrated exhaust manifold cylinder head are provided. In one example, an exhaust manifold for a vehicle includes a plurality of exhaust runners coupling a plurality of cylinder exhaust gas outlet ports to an exhaust exit port, the plurality of exhaust runners forming at least a first exhaust passage and a second exhaust passage at the exhaust exit port; an upper cooling jacket positioned vertically above the first exhaust passage; a lower cooling jacket positioned vertically below the second exhaust passage; and a central cooling jacket positioned vertically below the first exhaust passage and vertically above the second passage.
Tuning a sound profile of a muffler
Apparatuses and methods for tuning a muffler. An apparatus comprises a housing for a muffler, a first inlet pipe, and a second inlet pipe. The housing includes a coupling chamber. The first inlet pipe has a first set of physical features and carries exhaust to the coupling chamber. The second inlet pipe has a second set of physical features and carries the exhaust to the coupling chamber. The first set of physical features varies from the second set of physical features with respect to at least one physical feature such that a first sound waveform passing through the first inlet pipe and a second sound waveform passing through the second inlet pipe are uniquely tuned to thereby tune an overall sound waveform emitted by the muffler.
