In one form, a susceptor is arranged within a conduit and adapted to absorb radiant energy from at least one heating element and inhibit the radiant energy from being absorbed by the at least one wall of the conduit and/or other components. In another form, the susceptor absorbs and inhibits the radiant energy from being absorbed by the outer wall of the conduit.
Abnormality detection of current sensor for electrically heated catalyst device in hybrid vehicle
A control device executes abnormality detection processing for detecting an abnormality of a current sensor. The abnormality detection processing includes first processing which is executed in a case where, during reception of electric power from a power supply, a state of charge of a power storage device is equal to or greater than a predetermined amount and electric power is supplied to an electrically heated catalyst device. The first processing includes processing for detecting an abnormality of the current sensor by estimating a current supplied to the electrically heated catalyst device using a detection value of a charging current sensor and comparing the estimated value with a detection value of the current sensor.

A system includes a first heater positioned in or proximate to an exhaust aftertreatment system in exhaust gas-receiving communication with an engine, a second heater positioned downstream of the first heater, and a controller coupled to the first and second heaters. The controller is structured to: determine, based on information indicative of a temperature regarding the exhaust aftertreatment system, that the temperature regarding the exhaust aftertreatment system is below a predefined temperature threshold; determine that the second heater is in or likely in an error state; and control a temperature regarding the exhaust aftertreatment system using the first heater in response to determining that the second heater is in or likely in the error state, wherein the first heater controls the temperature regarding the exhaust aftertreatment system after a temperature regarding an engine intake air is at or above a predefined air intake temperature threshold.
Method of testing a proper functioning of a selective catalytic reduction system
A method and system is disclosed to test for a proper functioning of a selective catalytic reduction system of an internal combustion engine. The engine is operated at idle speed and a functionality check of the pressure sensor is executed. The engine is operated to increase an exhaust gas temperature in the exhaust pipe upstream of the catalyst and a functionality check of the pump is executed. A functionality check of the injector is executed after the functionality check of the pump and once the exhaust gas temperature has reached a predetermined target value thereof. A functionality check of the supply conduit is executed after the functionality check of the injector. The selective catalytic reduction system is identified as functioning properly when all of the functionality checks yields a positive result or malfunctioning when any one of the functionality checks yields a negative result.
EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION APPARATUS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes the adsorbent, the catalyst and the heat generating element, wherein in cases where the residual capacity of the battery is smaller than a first predetermined value required for raising the temperature of the catalyst to an activation temperature thereof, and in cases where the residual capacity of the battery is larger than a second predetermined value which is smaller than the first predetermined value and which is required for raising the temperature of the adsorbent to a predetermined temperature at which the adsorbent exhibits adsorption performance required at the time of starting of the internal combustion engine, an amount of electric power to be supplied to the heat generating element from the battery is adjusted such that the temperature of the adsorbent becomes the predetermined temperature.
Three-way catalytic converter preheating control method and system, vehicle and storage medium
The invention provides a three-way catalytic converter preheating control method and system, a vehicle and a storage medium. The includes when the temperature of an exhaust pipe of the hybrid electric vehicle is lower than a first temperature threshold value, sending a first work instruction; the high-low pressure conversion module outputting a first working voltage according to the first working instruction so as to start preheating of a catalyst in a three-way catalytic converter; when working data of the hybrid electric vehicle meets the switching condition, sending a second working instruction to make the high-low voltage conversion module outputs a second working voltage and stops outputting the first working voltage so as to stop the electric heating. According to the invention, two working modes can be provided, and the power battery can be used for electrically heating the catalyst in advance through the high-low pressure conversion module.
Hybrid vehicle
An electrically heated catalyst device has a catalyst that purifies exhaust gas from an engine, and is configured to heat the catalyst with electric power that is supplied from an electric storage device. A current sensor detects a current that is supplied to the electrically heated catalyst device. A current sensor detects an input/output current of the electric storage device. A controller executes failure determination control to determine whether the current sensor has a failure. In the failure determination control, the controller estimates a current that is supplied to the electrically heated catalyst device using a detection value of the current sensor and compares the estimated current with a detection value of the current sensor to determine whether the current sensor has a failure.
Systems and methods for electrically heated exhaust catalyst diagnostics
Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing an electric heater configured to increase a temperature of an exhaust catalyst positioned in an exhaust system of an engine. In one example, a method comprises diagnosing the electric heater by activating the electric heater, routing air flow from the exhaust system to an intake of the engine, and indicating the electric heater is degraded based on a test temperature in the intake being below a threshold temperature. In this way, the electric heater may be diagnosed without inclusion of costly sensors in the exhaust catalyst, and where such diagnosis conducted periodically may reduce release of undesired emissions to atmosphere.
