PALLADIUM CATALYST FOR OXIDATION OF METHANE AND METHOD OF PREPARATION AND USE THEREOF
This invention relates to a novel palladium catalyst for the substantially complete oxidative removal of methane from exhaust streams at low operating temperatures compared to other current palladium catalysts and to methods of preparing the catalyst. Use of the catalyst to remove methane from vehicle exhaust streams, crude oil production and processing exhaust streams, petroleum refining exhaust streams and natural gas production and processing exhaust streams.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DIESEL OXIDATION CATALYSTS
A layered emission control device for an engine system is provided, including a plurality of catalytic layers, the catalytic layers optionally or additionally comprising sublayers, each sublayer having a distinct composition. Advantages of such a device include providing increased treatment rates of one or more engine exhaust gas species over a wide range of engine exhaust operating conditions, while reducing exhaust emissions, and reducing a size of the emissions control system.
DIESEL OXIDATION CATALYST AND EXHAUST SYSTEM
An exhaust system for a diesel engine comprises an oxidation catalyst for treating an exhaust gas from the diesel engine and an emissions control device, wherein the oxidation catalyst comprises: a first washcoat zone for oxidizing carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HCs), wherein the first washcoat zone comprises a first platinum group metal (PGM), which is a combination of platinum and palladium, a first support material and a hydrocarbon adsorbent material, which is a zeolite, and wherein the first washcoat zone does not comprise rhodium and is substantially free of manganese or an oxide thereof; a second washcoat zone for oxidizing nitric oxide (NO), wherein the second washcoat zone comprises platinum (Pt) and manganese (Mn) disposed or supported on a second support material, wherein the second support material comprises a refractory metal oxide, wherein the refractory metal oxide is silica-alumina or an alumina doped with silica in a total amount of 0.5 to 45% by weight of the alumina, and wherein the second washcoat zone does not comprise a hydrocarbon adsorbent material, which is a zeolite; and a substrate having and inlet end and an outlet end, and wherein the second washcoat zone is disposed at an outlet end of the substrate, and the first washcoat zone disposed at an inlet end of the substrate; and wherein the emissions control device is a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst, a selective catalytic reduction filter catalyst, a diesel particulate filter (DPF), or a catalyzed soot filter (CSF).
DIESEL OXIDATION CATALYST AND EXHAUST SYSTEM
An oxidation catalyst for treating an exhaust gas from a diesel engine comprises: a first washcoat region for oxidising carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HCs), wherein the first washcoat region comprises a first platinum group metal (PGM) and a first support material, and wherein the first washcoat region does not comprise manganese or an oxide thereof; a second washcoat region for oxidising nitric oxide (NO), wherein the second washcoat region comprises platinum (Pt), manganese (Mn) and a second support material comprising a refractory metal oxide, which is silica-alumina or alumina doped with silica in a total amount of 0.5 to 45% by weight of the alumina, wherein the platinum (Pt) is disposed or supported on the second support material and the manganese (Mn) is disposed or supported on the second support material; and a substrate having an inlet end and an outlet end, and wherein the first washcoat region is a first washcoat layer and the second washcoat region is a second washcoat layer, and the second washcoat layer is disposed on the first washcoat layer; and wherein when the oxidation catalyst comprises a hydrocarbon adsorbent, which is a zeolite, then the first washcoat region further comprises the hydrocarbon adsorbent
Engine device
An engine is provided with an exhaust gas treatment device which treats exhaust gas. The exhaust gas treatment device is provided with electric parts which detect a state of the exhaust gas purification device. The engine is provided with a cooling water circulation mechanism which circulates cooling water for the engine. Further, the electric parts are arranged in an outer side of the exhaust gas purification device on an extension in a longitudinal direction of the exhaust gas purification device.

An oxidation catalyst composite, methods and systems for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions from an advanced combustion engine, such as the oxidation of unburned hydrocarbons (HC), and carbon monoxide (CO) and the reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from a diesel engine and an advanced combustion diesel engine are disclosed. More particularly, washcoat compositions are disclosed comprising at least two washcoat layers, a first washcoat comprising a palladium component and a first support containing cerium and a second washcoat containing platinum and one or more molecular sieves.
Diesel oxidation catalyst having a capture region for sulfur containing impurities
An oxidation catalyst is described for treating an exhaust gas produced by a diesel engine. The oxidation catalyst comprises: a substrate; a capture material for capturing at least one sulfur containing impurity in the exhaust gas produced by the diesel engine; wherein the capture material comprises a metal for reacting with an oxide of sulfur in the exhaust gas and particles of a refractory oxide, wherein the particles of the refractory oxide have a mean specific surface area ?50 m.sup.2/g; and a catalytic region disposed on the substrate; wherein the catalytic region comprises a catalytic material comprising a platinum group metal (PGM) selected from the group consisting of platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd) and a combination of platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd).
Method for diagnosing degradation of catalyst and catalyst degradation diagnosis system
Provided is a method for accurately diagnosing a degree of degradation of an oxidation catalyst. A target gas detecting element configured to output an electromotive force corresponding to a concentration of a target gas is provided downstream of a catalyst in an exhaust path of an internal combustion engine. A sum of change amounts of an electromotive force in a time-variable profile thereof after the introduction of a gas atmosphere for diagnosis into the catalyst is set as a diagnosis index value. The gas atmosphere has been intentionally created in the engine and includes a target gas having a concentration higher than the concentration of a target gas during a steady operation state of the engine. The index value is then compared with a threshold corresponding to the temperature of the catalyst to diagnosis whether degradation exceeding an acceptable degree has occurred in the catalyst.
EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION CATALYST
An exhaust gas purification catalyst having a substrate and a catalyst coating layer formed on the surface of the substrate, wherein the catalyst coating layer has the upper and lower layer having a lower layer closer to the surface of the substrate and an upper layer relatively remote from the surface of the substrate, the upper layer of the catalyst coating layer having Rh, Pd, and a carrier, the lower layer of the catalyst coating layer having at least one noble metal selected from Pd and Pt and a carrier, 65% by mass or more of Pd in the upper layer exists in a layer up to 50% of the upper layer in a thickness direction from the surface of the upper layer being relatively remote from the surface of the substrate, and the ratio of Pd to Rh by mass (Pd/Rh) is 0.5 to 0.7 in the upper layer.
