Disclosed are a hydrocarbon adsorption and desorption complex showing hydrocarbon adsorption and oxidation performance by controlling the cation ratio in zeolite, and a preparation method therefor. The hydrocarbon adsorption and desorption complex controls a cation ratio to exhibit the excellent hydrocarbon adsorption ability and oxidation performance even at a temperature lower than the catalyst activation temperature, and increases hydrothermal stability of the hydrocarbon adsorption and desorption complex through hydrothermal treatment to exhibit the excellent hydrocarbon adsorption and desorption performance even in a situation where water is present at a high temperature.
Diesel oxidation catalyst and exhaust system
An oxidation catalyst for treating an exhaust gas from a diesel engine, which oxidation catalyst comprises: a first washcoat region comprising platinum (Pt), manganese (Mn) and a first support material; a second washcoat region comprising a platinum group metal (PGM) and a second support material; and a substrate having an inlet end and an outlet end; wherein the second washcoat region is arranged to contact the exhaust gas at the outlet end of the substrate and after contact of the exhaust gas with the first washcoat region.

A composite oxidation catalyst (18, 20) for use in an exhaust system for treating an exhaust gas produced by a vehicular compression ignition internal combustion engine (30) and upstream of a particulate matter filter (44, 50) in the exhaust system comprises a substrate (5) having a total length L and a longitudinal axis and having a substrate surface extending axially between a first substrate end (I) and a second substrate end (O); and three or more catalyst washcoat zones (1, 2, 3; or 1, 2, 3, 4) arranged axially in series on and along the substrate surface, wherein a first catalyst washcoat zone (1) having a length L.sub.1, wherein L.sub.1<L, is defined at one end by the first substrate end (I) and at a second end by a first end (19, 21) of a second catalyst washcoat zone (2) having a length L.sub.2, wherein L.sub.2<L, wherein the first catalyst washcoat zone (1) comprises a first refractory metal oxide support material and two or more platinum group metal components supported thereon comprising both platinum and palladium at a weight ratio of platinum to palladium of ≥1; the second catalyst washcoat zone (2) comprises a second refractory metal oxide support material and one or more platinum group metal components supported thereon; and a third catalyst washcoat zone (3) comprising a third refractory metal oxide support material and one or more platinum group metal components supported thereon is defined at a second end thereof by the second substrate end (O), wherein a total platinum group metal loading in the first catalyst washcoat zone (1) defined in grams of platinum group metal per cubic foot of substrate volume (g/l) (g/ft.sup.3) is greater than a total platinum group metal loading in the second catalyst washcoat zone (2), wherein a total platinum group metal loading in the third catalyst washcoat zone (3) defined in grams of platinum group metal per cubic foot of substrate volume (g/l) (g/ft.sup.3) is less than the total platinum group metal loading in the second catalyst washcoat zone (2) and wherein the first catalyst washcoat zone (1) comprises one or more first alkaline earth metal components supported on the first refractory metal oxide support material.
Three-way catalyst
The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising a carrier substrate of the length L extending between substrate ends a and b and three washcoat zones A, B and C wherein washcoat zone A comprises one or more first platinum group metals and extends starting from substrate end a over a part of the length L, washcoat zone C comprises one or more first platinum group metals and extends starting from substrate end b over a part of the length L, and washcoat zone B comprises the same components as washcoat zone A and in addition, one or more second platinum group metals and extends between washcoat zones A and C, wherein L=L.sub.A+L.sub.B+L.sub.C, wherein L.sub.A is the length of washcoat zone A, L.sub.B is the length of substrate length B and L.sub.C is the length of substrate length C.
Exhaust gas energy recovery converter
An energy recovery converter for exhaust gases or waste heat is provided. The converter includes a membrane electrode assembly (MEA), an exhaust gas having a first molecular oxygen content, and an external electrical load. The MEA includes a first electrode, a second electrode and an oxygen ion conductive membrane sandwiched between the first and second electrodes. Each of the first and second electrodes includes at least one oxidation catalyst configured to promote an electrochemical reaction. The second electrode of the MEA is exposed to the exhaust gas and the first electrode of the MEA is exposed to a gas having a second molecular oxygen content. The second molecular oxygen content is higher than the first molecular oxygen content. The external electrical load is connected between the first and second electrodes of the MEA.
TWC CATALYSTS FOR GASOLINE ENGINE EXHAUST GAS TREATMENTS
A three-way catalyst article, and its use in an exhaust system for internal combustion engines, is disclosed. The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end and an outlet end with an axial length L; a first catalytic region comprising a first platinum group metal (PGM) component supported on a first PGM support material, wherein the first PGM component comprises rhodium (Rh) and platinum (Pt); and wherein Pt and Rh has a weight ratio of at least 1:10.
Exhaust gas purifying filter
Provided is an exhaust gas purifying filter used with a HC purifying catalyst supported thereon. Numerous pores are formed in partitions of the exhaust gas purifying filter. In a cross-section of the partition, pores are open at a passage surface, having an open end of which the opening diameter is 50 μm or larger. In the cross-section of the partitions, the partitions include a narrow part where a pore diameter is 5 μm or more and the pore diameter becomes a minimum in a region. In the cross-section of the partitions, the region is positioned between a pair of virtual lines L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 extending from opposing sides of the opening end to a passage surface positioned opposite to the opening end along the wall thickness direction X, Z. The pore diameter at the narrow part is 6% or more and less than or equal to 20% of the opening diameter.
Internal combustion engine systems including criteria pollutant mitigation
A method for operating an internal combustion engine includes combusting a fuel and air mixture within a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, thereby forming an exhaust gas, passing the exhaust gas out of the combustion chamber, performing a startup procedure, the startup procedure including passing the exhaust gas from the combustion chamber to a storage unit, capturing criteria pollutants of the exhaust gas with the storage unit, passing the exhaust gas from the storage unit to an aftertreatment system, heating the aftertreatment system to an activation temperature with the exhaust gas from the storage unit, and subsequent to heating the aftertreatment system to the activation temperature, performing a secondary procedure, the secondary procedure including passing the exhaust gas from the combustion chamber to the aftertreatment system thereby forming a treated exhaust gas, and passing the treated exhaust gas to the storage unit.

A three-way catalyst article, and its use in an exhaust system for internal combustion engines, is disclosed. The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end with an axial length L; an inlet catalyst layer beginning at the inlet end and extending for less than the axial length L, wherein the inlet catalyst layer comprises an inlet palladium component; an outlet catalyst layer beginning at the outlet end and extending for less than the axial length L, wherein the outlet catalyst layer comprises an outlet rhodium component; and wherein the outlet catalyst layer overlaps with the inlet catalyst layer.
Diesel oxidation catalyst and exhaust system
An oxidation catalyst for treating an exhaust gas from a diesel engine comprises: a first washcoat region for oxidising carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HCs), wherein the first washcoat region comprises a first platinum group metal (PGM) and a first support material, and wherein the first washcoat region does not comprise manganese or an oxide thereof; a second washcoat region for oxidising nitric oxide (NO), wherein the second washcoat region comprises platinum (Pt), manganese (Mn) and a second support material comprising a refractory metal oxide, which is silica-alumina or alumina doped with silica in a total amount of 0.5 to 45% by weight of the alumina, wherein the platinum (Pt) is disposed or supported on the second support material and the manganese (Mn) is disposed or supported on the second support material; and a substrate having an inlet end and an outlet end, and wherein the first washcoat region is a first washcoat layer and the second washcoat region is a second washcoat layer, and the second washcoat layer is disposed on the first washcoat layer; and wherein when the oxidation catalyst comprises a hydrocarbon adsorbent, which is a zeolite, then the first washcoat region further comprises the hydrocarbon adsorbent.
