A thermal management system for a vehicle may be selectively controlled to supply heat from any one of a plurality of different heat sources, to any one of a plurality of different heat sinks. The heat sources may include: an internal combustion engine, a cylinder head, an exhaust gas heat recovery system, an exhaust gas recirculation system, or a turbocharging system. The heat sinks may include: the internal combustion engine, the cylinder heat, an engine oil cooler, a transmission oil cooler, and a heating core. Each of an engine oil cooler control valve, a transmission oil cooler control valve, a heating core control valve, an engine block control valve, a cylinder head control valve, a bypass control valve, and a heat transfer control valve are controlled to effectuate a desired operating mode for the thermal management system.
Method and systems for adjusting flow resistance in an engine cooling system
Various methods and systems are provided for adjusting flow resistances in an engine cooling system. In one example, a method for an engine includes adjusting a first resistance of a radiator main return line to be greater than a second resistance of a sub-cooled return line in response to an engine speed below a threshold speed, the sub-cooled return line arranged in parallel with the radiator main return line in an engine cooling system.
Engine system having coolant control valve
An engine system having a coolant control valve may include a cylinder head including an intake side head coolant jacket for cooling an intake side thereof and an exhaust side head coolant jacket for cooling an exhaust side thereof formed in the cylinder head, a cylinder block arranged on a lower side of the cylinder head and having an intake side block coolant jacket for cooling an intake side of the cylinder block and an exhaust side block coolant jacket for cooling an exhaust side cylinder block formed therein, and a coolant control valve arranged for independently controlling coolant flowing through the intake side head coolant jacket, the exhaust side head coolant jacket, the intake side block coolant jacket and the exhaust side block coolant jacket.
THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITH HEAT RECOVERY AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
A number of variations may include a thermal management system comprising: an engine, an exhaust heat recovery system, and a coolant system comprising a coolant circuit and a coolant pump wherein the coolant pump operates independently of the engine and is operated by an electronic control unit, and wherein the electronic control unit is constructed and arranged to operate the coolant pump after engine start up to limit coolant temperature below a predetermined value in and/or near the exhaust heat recovery system.
Coolant control systems and methods for transmission temperature regulation
A coolant control system of a vehicle includes a pump control module and a coolant valve control module. The pump control module selectively activates a coolant pump. The coolant pump pumps coolant into coolant channels formed in an integrated exhaust manifold (IEM) of an engine. The coolant valve control module selectively actuates a coolant valve that controls coolant flow from the coolant channels formed in the IEM to a transmission heat exchanger based on a first temperature of a transmission and a second temperature of coolant within the integrated exhaust manifold of the engine.
OUTBOARD MOTOR
An outboard motor is provided with an upper separator disposed on the lower side of an oil case for storing a lubricating oil of an engine, and an extension case which is separably connected on the lower side of the upper separator. The upper separator has a central exhaust passage through which exhaust gas flows, and a cooling water flow part through which cooling water flows on the outside of the central exhaust passage, the central exhaust passage and the cooling water flow part forming an integrated structure. The exhaust gas and the cooling water are caused to mix in the extension case.
Cooling system for vehicle and controlling method thereof
A cooling system for a vehicle may include a cooling water temperature sensor, a cooling circulation fluid passage including first, second and third fluid passages, wherein the cooling water exhausted from the engine may be branched into the first fluid passage provided with a heater core, the second fluid passage provided with a radiator, and the third fluid passage provided with an exhaust heat recovery apparatus, a fluid flow adjusting valve provided on a point at which the cooling water passing through the cooling water temperature sensor may be branched into the first fluid passage to the third fluid passage to adjust a flow of the cooling water, and a controlling part controlling the first fluid passage to the third fluid passage to be selectively opened or closed by operating the fluid flow adjusting valve depending on the temperature of the cooling water, in a heating mode and a non-heating mode.
HEAT STORAGE SYSTEM
A heat storage system has a heat source that generates heat and radiates the heat to a first heat medium and a heat storage body that stores heat. The heat storage body changes to a first phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage body is lower than or equal to a phase transition temperature, and changes to a second phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage body exceeds the phase transition temperature. The heat storage body stores or radiates heat due to a phase transition between the first phase and the second phase. A heat storage mode in which the heat storage body stores heat of the first heat medium and a heat radiation mode in which the heat storage body radiates the heat stored in the heat storage body to a heat transfer target are switchable.
WORK VEHICLE
A work vehicle includes a hood, an engine, a radiator, an air cleaner, and a condenser. The hood covers an engine compartment located on a front portion of a traveling body. The engine is a drive source. The radiator supplies a coolant to the engine. The air cleaner takes in outside air and supplies the air to the engine. The condenser cools a refrigerant. In front of the radiator, the air cleaner and the condenser are disposed one above the other. The condenser is withdrawable in the left and right direction.
