CONTROL APPARATUS FOR COMPRESSION-IGNITION TYPE ENGINE
The invention is provided with an ignition control section and an injection control section. When partial compression ignition combustion is carried out, the ignition control section causes an ignition plug to carry out: main ignition in which a spark is generated in a late period of a compression stroke or an initial period of an expansion stroke to initiate SI combustion; and preceding ignition in which the spark is generated at earlier timing than the main ignition. Also, when the partial compression ignition combustion is carried out, the injection control section causes an injector to inject fuel at such timing that the fuel exists in a cylinder at an earlier time point than the preceding ignition. Timing of the preceding ignition is more advanced when a swirl flow is gentle than when the swirl flow is strong.
Twin outlet check liquid fuel injector for dual fuel system
A liquid fuel injector such as for a dual fuel system in an internal combustion engine includes two-way injection control valves for controlling twin outlet checks. A first set of orifices are arranged in an A-F-Z pattern, and a second set of orifices are arranged in an A-F-Z pattern, within the fuel injector, among a high-pressure inlet passage, a low-pressure space, and first and second outlet check control chambers, respectively. A common nozzle supply cavity is fluidly connected to the high-pressure inlet passage and supplies each of two sets of nozzle outlets opened and closed by the twin outlet checks.

PRE-CHAMBER TYPE DIESEL ENGINE
Provided is a pre-chamber type diesel engine in which fuel injected from an injector mixes satisfactorily with air in a pre-combustion chamber. A corner space section, in which a forced vortex is formed by a flow of air advancing into a pre-combustion chamber from a main combustion chamber via a connecting hole during the compression stroke of a piston, is provided at a prescribed position between the line of extension of the connecting hole and the wall surface of the pre-combustion chamber.
Insert device for fuel injection
An insert device includes a body having an upper body portion configured to couple with a cylinder head of an engine cylinder and a lower body portion extending from the upper body portion toward a combustion chamber of the engine cylinder. The body includes an interior surface extending around a central volume positioned to receive liquid fuel from a fuel injector. The body includes gas inlet channels and fuel-and-gas mixture outlet channels. The gas inlet channels direct gas into the central volume where the gas mixes with the liquid fuel to form the fuel-and-gas mixture. The fuel-and-gas mixture outlet channels direct the mixture into the combustion chamber. The interior surface includes concave surface portions between the inlet channels and the outlet channels along a center axis of the body that are shaped to direct the gas into the central volume toward the liquid fuel in the central volume.

Engine system for emission reduction without aftertreatment
An engine system comprising an internal combustion engine and a turbocharger, where a diameter of the at least one intake valve is greater than a diameter of the at least one exhaust valve, the salient angle of the piston bowl is at least 10 degrees, the ratio between the piston bowl opening diameter and the piston bowl depth is approximately 0.5 to 2.0, the intake valve opens before top dead center on an exhaust stroke of the internal combustion engine and closes before bottom dead center of an intake stroke of the internal combustion engine, and the turbocharger has a combined efficiency of more than 50%.
Compressed self-ignition type internal combustion engine
An internal combustion engine includes a fuel injection nozzle in which a nozzle hole that injects fuel is provided to be exposed to a combustion chamber from a cylinder head of the internal combustion engine, and a hollow duct in which an inlet and an outlet are exposed to the combustion chamber. The duct is provided to penetrate through an inside of the cylinder head so that fuel spray injected from the nozzle hole of the fuel injection nozzle passes from the inlet to the outlet. The duct is preferably configured so that a direction from the inlet to the outlet corresponds to a direction of the fuel spray injected from the nozzle hole.
