The method includes the steps of monitoring pressure provided by a pump element of the TNP system, determining at least one characteristic associated with the monitored pressure and determining status of at least one parameter associated with a canister of the TNP system responsive to the determined characteristics.
AUTOIMMUNE MECHANICAL IMMUNOMODULATION
The present disclosure describes a novel therapeutic apheresis system and, more specifically, methods and an apparatus for performing therapeutic apheresis. The present disclosure provides highly efficient methods for therapeutic apheresis that modulate the immune system, thereby resulting in treatment of one or more underlying immunological disease processes. In some embodiments, the disclosed methods return at least a portion of blood from an extracorporeal circuit to a patient in pulsatile flow, where the portion of blood that is returned is augmented. In other embodiments, the disclosed methods and apparatus use the central arterial system to exchange volumes of plasma to immunomodulate disease processes. The disclosed methods combine concepts of intermittent flow and continuous flow therapeutic apheresis with established cardiovascular concepts. In addition, the disclosed methods reduce the amount of time spent by patients in therapeutic apheresis sessions and decrease patients' dependence on immunological drugs that may have detrimental adverse effects.
INJECTOR PRESSURE CALIBRATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A calibration system for calibrating a pressure output of a fluid injector having a housing configured for connecting to the fluid injector; a drive member engagement portion configured for contacting a drive member of the fluid injector; a compressible member, which may have a known modulus of compression, connected at its proximal end to the drive member engagement portion, wherein the compressible member is compressed with movement of the drive member of the fluid injector between a first, uncompressed position and a second, at least partially compressed position of the fluid injector in a distal direction; and a sensor connected to the compressible member is described. The sensor is configured for measuring at least one of a force imparted by the drive member and a displacement of the drive member when the compressible member is in the second, at least partially compressed position. The system may generate a calibration curve for the drive member of the fluid injector and allow the generation of a fault condition. Methods for calibrating a fluid injector are also described.
Means to treat Alzheimer's disease via flushing of brain parenchyma
An implantable glymphatic pump configured to flush metabolites from a brain parenchyma of a patient. The implantable glymphatic pump including at least one spinal catheter having a distal end configured to be positioned within an intrathecal space of a spine of a patient, at least one cranial catheter having a distal end configured to be positioned within a brain parenchyma of the patient, and an implantable pump configured to draw cerebrospinal fluid from the intrathecal space of the spine in the patient via the at least one spinal catheter, and reintroduce said cerebrospinal fluid to the brain parenchyma of the patient via the one or more cranial catheters to encourage a flow of the cerebrospinal fluid through the brain parenchyma.
Infusion set for measuring vital signals of a patient comprising a compliance element and a reflective element
There is provided an IV infusion set comprising a patient access configured to connect to a vascular system of a patient, a source of medical fluid, an infusion line having one first end configured to connect to the source of medical fluid and one opposite second end configured to deliver the medical fluid towards the patient access, an infusion apparatus arranged on the infusion line, a sensor configured to emit a pressure signal indicative of a pressure of a medical fluid in the infusion line, and a control unit configured to receive the pressure signal and to determine a patient signal indicative of a vital signal of the patient based on the pressure signal. The IV infusion set further comprises a compliance element configured to attenuate pressure variations of medical fluid the infusion line, and a resistance element configured to reflect pressure waves moving along the infusion line. The sensor is arranged on the infusion line at a position downstream from the resistance element with respect to a direction of fluid flow along the infusion line from the medical fluid source towards the patient access. The infusion line may include a main infusion line and/or one or more auxiliary infusion lines connected to a main infusion line.
Method of robotic hub communication, detection, and control
Various surgical systems are disclosed. A surgical system can include a surgical robot and a surgical hub. The surgical robot can include a control unit in signal communication with a control console and a robotic tool. The surgical hub can include a display. The surgical hub can be in signal communication with the control unit. A facility can include a plurality of surgical hubs that communicate data from the surgical robots to a primary server. To alleviate bandwidth competition among the surgical hubs, the surgical hubs can include prioritization protocols for collecting, storing, and/or communicating data to the primary server.
Powered managed therapeutic support surface system for the treatment of pressure injuries
A pressure injuries therapeutic support surface is illustrated. The surface comprises an integrated system designed for a concurrent physical and psychoneuroimmunological approach over a user, wherein the system comprises one or a plurality of independent fluid-filled main chambers, made of waterproof, flexible, extendable, and elastic material and at least two accessory chambers connected to each main chamber with at least with two free-flow conduits. The system is managed through a powered mechatronic array with its own hardware and software based on microcontrollers for the simultaneous operation of specific multidisciplinary devices.
