Internal Combustion Engine for an Outboard Motor
An internal combustion engine for an outboard motor for driving a vessel has an air guide system acting by way of a covering hood surrounding surfaces of the internal combustion engine and ancillary units. Covering hood inlet and outlet openings permit airflows to move in an interior space of the covering hood, and a fan driven by the internal combustion engine influences the airflows in the covering hood interior space. Airflows enter the interior space of the covering hood via an inlet opening and a first routing arrangement. Assisted by the fan, part of the airflows acts on the surfaces of the internal combustion engine and of the ancillary units. A second routing arrangement routs another portion of the airflows, as intake air, to an engine suction system. Airflows heated by engine and ancillary unit surfaces are conveyed by the fan and a third routing arrangement outside the covering hood.
Reciprocating internal combustion engine
A reciprocating internal combustion engine includes at least one piston, which is operatively connected by two connecting rods having two crankshafts rotating in opposite directions and running parallel to each other, which crankshafts are oriented in an upright manner to a horizontal water line of a boat, and an internal combustion engine housing of the internal combustion engine is composed of at least a cylinder crank housing and a cylinder head, having inlet and outlet valves, and is bounded by an upper end face and a bottom end face. To optimize the internal combustion engine, a joint ventilation system has an oil separating device provided with an oil pre-separator and a main oil separator, via which, when operating the internal combustion engine, a mixture of oil and leaking gas, resulting in a crankcase of the cylinder crank housing, reaches, by way of a discharge line extending adjacent to the upper end face, the oil pre-separator, from where the mixture of oil and leaking gas is led into the main oil separator and there is separated into the components of oil and leaking gas. The oil flows into an oil pan connecting at the bottom end face and the leaking gas near the upper end face flows into an intake system of the internal combustion engine.
INVERTER GENERATOR
A standby generator includes an internal combustion engine, an alternator, and a controller. The internal combustion engine includes an engine housing, an engine block, and a crankshaft. The engine housing at least partially covers the engine block. The engine block includes a cylinder. The crankshaft is configured to rotate about a vertical crankshaft axis in response to movement by the cylinder. The alternator includes a stator, as well as a rotor that is configured to rotate with the rotation of the crankshaft to produce electrical power. The controller includes an inverter that is configured to receive electrical power from the alternator and output alternating current electrical power. The controller extends at least partially above the engine housing.
Cooling system for air-cooled engine
An air-cooled internal combustion engine including a crankshaft rotating about a crankshaft axis, a first cylinder having a first cylinder head, a second cylinder having a second cylinder head, and a blower assembly. The blower assembly includes a blower housing, a first fan, and a second fan. The first fan is positioned proximate the first cylinder and the second fan is positioned proximate the second cylinder.
MACHINE SUSPENSION SYSTEM
An embodiment relates to a machine including a prime mover, a drive pulley, a chassis, a subframe, a drive device, a drive belt, and a pulley arrangement. The drive pulley is coupled to the prime mover. The chassis is configured to support at least an operator and the prime mover. The subframe is pivotally coupled to the chassis about a pivot axis. The subframe is further coupled to the chassis via a suspension device. The drive device is configured to drive wheels of the machine. The drive device is configured to be driven by the prime mover. The pulley arrangement is configured to direct the drive belt from the drive pulley to a driven pulley on the drive device. The pulley arrangement comprises at least one idler pulley having a diameter and a rotational axis.
Marine outboard motor with valve train having adjustable lash
A marine outboard motor having an internal combustion engine is provided. The internal combustion engine includes an engine block having at least one cylinder and a valve train comprising a cam, a valve assembly including a valve spring, a roller finger follower, and a pivot post. The pivot post extends from a fixed body of the engine block and defines a contact surface about which the roller finger follower pivots when deflected by the cam during use. The pivot post is moveable relative to the fixed body in a first longitudinal direction (A) against the action of the valve spring. A removable shim is disposed between the fixed body and a portion (182) of the pivot post to space the pivot post from the fixed body in the first longitudinal direction (A) and thereby reduce an amount of lash between the cam and the roller finger follower. The removable shim is dimensioned to fit at least partly around a shaft portion of the pivot post.
PUMP SHAFT SUPPORT STRUCTURE
A pump shaft support structure includes: a crankcase body which rotatably supports a crankshaft of an engine; a pump shaft which interlockingly rotates with the crankshaft; a crankcase cover which covers the crankcase body; a pump cover which is coupled to the crankcase cover to define a pump chamber therebetween; and a pump rotor which is disposed in the pump chamber and engages with the pump shaft. The pump shaft includes: a supported section which is rotatably supported by the pump cover on the other side of the pump chamber from the crankcase cover; and an insertion section adjoining the supported section in an axial direction. The pump cover has a through bore which passes the insertion section of the pump shaft therethrough. The insertion section of the pump shaft has a diameter smaller than that of the supported section.
COOLING SYSTEM FOR AIR-COOLED ENGINE
A method of operating a fan for an air-cooled internal combustion engine includes starting the air-cooled internal combustion engine, operating the fan in a first operating mode in which the fan rotates in a first direction, and operating the fan in a second operating mode in which the fan rotates in a second direction.
