SMOKING DEVICE
20190208823 · 2019-07-11 · ·

Apparatus and methods are described for use with a portion of plant material that includes at least one active ingredient. A vaporizing unit includes a heating element configured to heat the plant material, and a sensor configured to detect an indication of airflow rate through the vaporizing unit. Control circuitry is configured to receive an indication of the airflow rate through the vaporizing unit, and, in response thereto, to determine a smoking profile that is desired by the user. The control circuitry drives the heating element to vaporize the active ingredient of the plant material by heating the plant material according to the determined smoking profile. The control circuitry dynamically updates the smoking profile in response to changes in airflow rate over the course of a smoking session. Other applications are also described.

System and Method For Cooling The Brain of a Human Subject
20190209365 · 2019-07-11 ·

A system for cooling the brain of a human subject, the system including a cooling subsystem configured to input a flow of air or breathable gas, cool the air or breathable gas, and output cooled air or breathable gas to a line coupled to a device adapted to deliver the cooled air or breathable gas to a human subject. A flow control device coupled to the cooling subsystem is configured to control a flow rate of the flow of the air or breathable gas input to the cooling subsystem and a flow rate of the cooled air or breathable gas output to the line. One or more flow rate sensors coupled to the cooling subsystem are configured to measure at least a flow rate of flow of cooled air or breathable gas. One or more temperature sensors are configured to measure at least a temperature of a brain or a brain correlative site of the human subject and the temperature of the flow of cooled air or breathable gas. A controller is coupled to the cooling subsystem, the flow control device, the one or more flow rate sensors, and the one or more temperature sensors and is configured to adjust a cooling rate, the temperature, and the flow rate of flow of cooled air or breathable gas delivered to the human subject based on at least the measured temperature of the brain or the brain correlative site and the measured flow rate of the flow of cooled air or breathable gas to cool the brain of the human subject.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR COOLING LIVING TISSUE

The present disclosure provides a device for cooling a living tissue that solves severe patient's waiting and clinic work load due to time-consuming anesthesia required by conventional therapies and significantly reduces psychological burden and pain of the patient for ocular anesthesia.

Facial protection and thermoregulation for patients undergoing surgery

A mask suitable for protecting the face of a patient during surgery comprises a transparent plastic shield which includes a transverse cutout that provides access to the nose and mouth, and a vertical gap which runs from the cutout to the shield's perimeter. Padding affixed to the perimeter of the shield's underside provides a cushion between the shield and face. The padding is preferably arranged such that the mask can be installed or removed without dislodging tubing inserted into the patient's nose or mouth via the transverse cutout. An attachment mechanism secures the shield to the face. A warming hood may be coupled to the protective mask. The hood preferably comprises outer and inner layers, with an access point at which air can be introduced between the layers; perforations on the inner layer permit warm air to be dispersed onto the patient.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR GENERATING AND CONCENTRATING FINE PARTICLE AEROSOLS
20190160232 · 2019-05-30 ·

A system and a method for generating a respirable dry powder aerosol from a liquid solution or liquid suspension at a respirable dry powder aerosol volume flow. A liquid aerosol generating nozzle generates from the liquid solution or liquid suspension a liquid aerosol that is diluted by dilution gas and dried in a cylindrical evaporation chamber to generate a dry powder aerosol. The system and method include heliox as a gas, specifically dilution gas, for enhancing the drying process in the cylindrical evaporation chamber, but also as a nozzle gas for enhancing generating the liquid aerosol from the liquid solution or liquid suspension.

Devices and methods for warm gas therapy

Devices and method for warm gas therapy is provided. Device comprises a gas warmer assembly to warm a first gas to a temperature in a first temperature range to obtain warm first gas. The device comprises a first delivery unit that can deliver the warm first gas to a main treatment chamber which encloses a sub-treatment chamber to retain heat therein. A second delivery unit can receive a therapeutic gas from a gas supply. The second delivery unit comprises a first portion and a second portion. The first portion substantially passes through the first delivery unit and therapeutic gas in the first portion is warmed by the warm first gas. The second portion delivers the warm therapeutic gas to a sub-treatment chamber. The sub-treatment chamber encloses a body part of a patient.

INTEGRATED HUMIDIFIER CHAMBER AND LID

A blower unit for use as part of an integrated blower/humidification system is described. The blower unit has an outer casing, which encloses and forms part of the blower unit, the casing including an air inlet vent. The blower unit further includes a humidifier compartment for receiving a humidifier unit with a separate gases inlet and outlet, the compartment having a heater base for heating the contents of the humidifier unit. The compartment also has a blower inlet port which aligns with the humidifier unit inlet in use, the blower providing a gases path through the casing between the inlet vent and the inlet port. The blower unit also includes a fan for providing a pressurised gases stream along the gases path, and a power supply unit for powering the fan. The gases path is routed over the power supply unit in order to provide a cooling air flow.
