The present invention relates to a high pressure process for Pre-Combustion and Post-Combustion CO.sub.2 capture (HP/MP/LP gasification) from a CO.sub.2 gas stream (CO2-Stream) by way of CO.sub.2 total subcritical condensation (CO2-CC), separation of liquid CO.sub.2, higher pressure elevation of obtained liquid CO.sub.2 via HP pump, superheating of CO.sub.2 up to high temperature for driving of a set of CO.sub.2 expander turbines for additional power generation (CO2-PG), EOR or sequestration (First new Thermodynamic Cycle). The obtained liquid CO.sub.2 above, will be pressurized at a higher pressure and blended with HP water obtaining high concentrated electrolyte, that is fed into HP low temperature electrochemical reactor (HPLTE-Syngas Generator) wherefrom the cathodic syngas and anodic oxygen will be performed. In particular the generated HP oxygen/syngas will be utilized for sequential combustion (“H.sub.2/O.sub.2-torches”) for super-efficient hydrogen based fossil power generation (Second new Thermodynamic Cycle).

The present invention relates to a high pressure process for Pre-Combustion and Post-Combustion CO.sub.2 capture (HP/MP/LP gasification) from a CO.sub.2 gas stream (CO2-Stream) by way of CO.sub.2 total subcritical condensation (CO2-CC), separation of liquid CO.sub.2, higher pressure elevation of obtained liquid CO.sub.2 via HP pump, superheating of CO.sub.2 up to high temperature for driving of a set of CO.sub.2 expander turbines for additional power generation (CO2-PG), EOR or sequestration (First new Thermodynamic Cycle). COMBUSTION CHAMBER WITH SOLID FUEL
A propulsion system is provided and includes a solid hydride storage unit from which gaseous hydrogen fuel is drawn, an engine comprising a combustion chamber and a piping system to draw the gaseous hydrogen fuel from the solid hydride storage unit, the piping system being interposed between the solid hydride storage unit and the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is receptive of the gaseous hydrogen fuel drawn from the solid hydride storage unit by the piping system and is configured to combust the gaseous hydrogen fuel to drive an operation of the engine.
COMBUSTION CHAMBER WITH SOLID FUEL
A propulsion system is provided and includes a solid hydride storage unit from which gaseous hydrogen fuel is drawn, an engine comprising a combustion chamber and a piping system to draw the gaseous hydrogen fuel from the solid hydride storage unit, the piping system being interposed between the solid hydride storage unit and the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is receptive of the gaseous hydrogen fuel drawn from the solid hydride storage unit by the piping system and is configured to combust the gaseous hydrogen fuel to drive an operation of the engine.
CONTROL SYSTEM FOR A FUEL CELL AND ENGINE COMBUSTOR ASSEMBLY
An engine assembly includes a combustor, a fuel cell stack fluidly connected to the combustor, the fuel cell stack being configured (i) to generate power using fuel and air directed into the fuel cell stack and (ii) to direct fuel and air exhaust from the fuel cell stack into the combustor, a compressor fluidly connected upstream of (i) the combustor and (ii) the fuel cell stack, the compressor being configured to generate compressed air to direct into the fuel cell stack, a turbine disposed downstream from the combustor, the turbine having a turbine inlet temperature, and a controller that is configured to control a power allocation between the fuel cell stack and the turbine based upon the turbine inlet temperature of the turbine. The combustor is configured to combust the fuel and air exhaust from the fuel cell stack into one or more gaseous combustion products that power the turbine.
INTEGRATED FUEL CELL AND ENGINE COMBUSTOR ASSEMBLY
An engine assembly includes a combustor, a fuel cell stack integrated with the combustor, the fuel cell stack configured (i) to direct fuel and air exhaust from the fuel cell stack into the combustor and (ii) to generate electrical energy, a catalytic partial oxidation convertor that is fluidly connected to the fuel cell stack, the catalytic partial oxidation convertor being configured to optimize a hydrogen content of a fuel stream to be directed into the fuel cell stack, and one or more subsystems electrically connected with the fuel cell stack, the one or more subsystems being configured to receive the electrical energy generated by the fuel cell stack. The combustor is configured to combust the fuel and air exhaust from the fuel cell stack into one or more gaseous combustion products that drive a downstream turbine.

An engine assembly includes a combustor, a fuel cell stack integrated with the combustor, the fuel cell stack configured (i) to direct fuel and air exhaust from the fuel cell stack into the combustor and (ii) to generate electrical energy, a catalytic partial oxidation convertor that is fluidly connected to the fuel cell stack, the catalytic partial oxidation convertor being configured to optimize a hydrogen content of a fuel stream to be directed into the fuel cell stack, and one or more subsystems electrically connected with the fuel cell stack, the one or more subsystems being configured to receive the electrical energy generated by the fuel cell stack. INTEGRATED FUEL CELL AND ENGINE COMBUSTOR ASSEMBLY
An engine assembly includes a combustor, a fuel cell stack integrated with the combustor, and a pre-burner system fluidly connected to the fuel cell stack. The fuel cell stack is configured to direct fuel and air exhaust from the fuel cell stack into the combustor. The pre-burner system is configured to control a temperature of an air flow directed into the fuel cell stack. The combustor is configured to combust the fuel and air exhaust from the fuel cell stack into one or more gaseous combustion products that drive a downstream turbine. The engine assembly can further include a catalytic partial oxidation convertor that is fluidly connected to the fuel cell stack. The catalytic partial oxidation convertor is configured to develop a hydrogen rich fuel stream to be directed into the fuel cell stack.
CHEMICAL LOOP COMBUSTION SYSTEM WITH DOWNSTREAM WATER-GAS SHIFT REACTOR STAGE
A chemical looping combustion (CLC) based power generation, particularly using liquid fuel, ensures substantially complete fuel combustion and provides electrical efficiency without exposing metal oxide based oxygen carrier to high temperature redox process. An integrated fuel gasification (reforming)-CLC-followed by power generation model is provided involving (i) a gasification island, (ii) CLC island, (iii) heat recovery unit, and (iv) power generation system. To improve electrical efficiency, a fraction of the gasified fuel may be directly fed, or bypass the CLC, to a combustor upstream of one or more gas turbines. This splitting approach ensures higher temperature (efficiency) in the gas turbine inlet. The inert mass ratio, air flow rate to the oxidation reactor, and pressure of the system may be tailored to affect the performance of the integrated CLC system and process.
COMBINED POWER PLANT AND METHOD FOR OPERATING COMBINED POWER PLANT
A combined power plant is provided. The combined power plant includes a gas turbine configured to combust fuel to generate a rotating force, a boiler configured to heat water to generate steam, an ammonia decomposition apparatus configured to receive a combustion gas generated in the gas turbine to thermally decompose ammonia to generate a decomposed gas containing hydrogen, nitrogen, and a residual ammonia, a steam turbine configured to generate a rotating force using the steam generated in the boiler, and a decomposed gas supply line configured to supply the decomposed gas generated in the ammonia decomposition apparatus to a combustor of the gas turbine.
