BLEED EJECTOR
A bleed valve system comprises a duct, featuring a central longitudinal axis and allowing a main flow of fluid to pass from a first environment at a first static pressure to a second environment at a second static pressure along a bleed direction, a valve comprising a valve member arranged within the duct between the first and second environments and movable to partially obstruct the duct and deviate the main flow of fluid to direct at least a part of it towards a portion of an internal wall of the duct; and an ejector, arranged within the duct, downstream of the valve member and offset from the central longitudinal axis in correspondence of said portion of the internal wall, adapted to supply an additional flow of fluid within the duct to accelerate the main flow of fluid and reduce the second static pressure.

A jet pump (10) comprising a tubular body (12), a first injection duct (14) which opens into the body (12) via a first outlet nozzle (18), a second injection duct (16) which opens into the body (12) via a second outlet nozzle (20) which surrounds the first outlet nozzle (18), the downstream end (20a) of the second outlet nozzle (20) being situated axially level with the downstream end (18a) of the first outlet nozzle (18), wherein the upstream end (18b) of the first nozzle (18) comprises an axial orifice (30) centered on the main axis of the body (12), and in that the jet pump (10) is configured for either plugging or not plugging the axial orifice (30) of the first outlet nozzle (18).

A jet pump (10) comprising a tubular body (12), a first injection duct (14) which opens into the body (12) via a first outlet nozzle (18), a second injection duct (16) which opens into the body (12) via a second outlet nozzle (20) which surrounds the first outlet nozzle (18), the downstream end (20a) of the second outlet nozzle (20) being situated axially level with the downstream end (18a) of the first outlet nozzle (18), wherein the upstream end (18b) of the first nozzle (18) comprises an axial orifice (30) centered on the main axis of the body (12), and in that the jet pump (10) is configured for either plugging or not plugging the axial orifice (30) of the first outlet nozzle (18).
Diversion of fan air to provide cooling air for gas turbine engine
A gas turbine engine section includes a plurality of spaced rotor stages, with a static guide vane intermediate the spaced rotor stages. The static guide vane provides swirl into air passing toward a downstream one of the spaced rotor stages, and an outer housing surrounding the spaced rotor stages. A diverter diverts a portion of air radially outwardly through the outer housing, and across at least one heat exchanger. The diverted air passes back into a duct radially inwardly through the outer housing, and is exhausted toward the downstream one of the spaced rotor stages.
Diversion of fan air to provide cooling air for gas turbine engine
A gas turbine engine section includes a plurality of spaced rotor stages, with a static guide vane intermediate the spaced rotor stages. The static guide vane provides swirl into air passing toward a downstream one of the spaced rotor stages, and an outer housing surrounding the spaced rotor stages. Centrifugal compressor with fluid injector diffuser
A centrifugal compressor includes a housing providing in inlet, an impeller, a diffuser and a volute or collector. An electric motor is provided in the housing and is configured to drive at least one impeller via a shaft about an axis. The impeller includes an outlet end aligned with a diffuser and arranged at the throat. A variable fluid injector device is arranged downstream from the outlet end of the impeller in one example. The variable fluid injector device is configured to introduce high pressure fluid downstream from the impeller in response to a compressor regulation command. The injected fluid energizes the low momentum boundary layer, which provides compressor stability. A compressor controller is in communication with the variable fluid injection device to obtain a desired compressor operating condition.
Centrifugal compressor with fluid injector diffuser
A centrifugal compressor includes a housing providing in inlet, an impeller, a diffuser and a volute or collector. An electric motor is provided in the housing and is configured to drive at least one impeller via a shaft about an axis. The impeller includes an outlet end aligned with a diffuser and arranged at the throat. A variable fluid injector device is arranged downstream from the outlet end of the impeller in one example. The variable fluid injector device is configured to introduce high pressure fluid downstream from the impeller in response to a compressor regulation command. The injected fluid energizes the low momentum boundary layer, which provides compressor stability. A compressor controller is in communication with the variable fluid injection device to obtain a desired compressor operating condition.
Gas turbine engine with geared turbofan and oil thermal management system with unique heat exchanger structure
An oil supply system for a gas turbine engine has a lubricant pump delivering lubricant to an outlet line. The outlet line is split into at least a hot line and into a cool line, with the hot line directed primarily to locations associated with an engine that are not intended to receive cooler lubricant, and the cool line directed through one or more heat exchangers at which lubricant is cooled. The cool line then is routed to a fan drive gear system of an associated gas turbine engine. A method and apparatus are disclosed. The heat exchangers include at least an air/oil cooler wherein air is pulled across the air/oil cooler to cool oil. The air/oil cooler is provided with an ejector tapping compressed air from a compressor section to increase airflow across the air/oil cooler.

Power plant having a two-stage cooler device for cooling the admission air for a turboshaft engine
A power plant having at least one compressor, at least one fuel-burning engine, and a cooler device for cooling admission air for the engine, the engine being provided with a combustion chamber. The cooler device is constituted by a heat engine having three heat sources arranged between two compression stages of the compressor and including a refrigerant fluid and two evaporators. The admission air flows in succession through the two evaporators between the two compression stages firstly to cool the admission air between the two compression stages prior to being injected into the combustion chamber, and secondly to vaporize the refrigerant fluid.
