RAPID ASSISTANCE DEVICE FOR A FREE TURBINE ENGINE OF AN AIRCRAFT
The rapid assistance device applies to a free turbine engine of an aircraft having at least a first free turbine engine provided with a gas generator and associated with an electrical machine capable of operating both as a starter and as a generator, the first engine being capable of being put into a standby mode or into an unwanted shut-down mode, the electrical machine being powered from on on-board electrical energy power supply network. The device further includes at least one electrical energy storage member adapted to be electrically connected to the electrical machine associated with the first engine in order to provide a burst of assistance to the gas generator of that engine. The electrical energy storage member constitutes a non-rechargeable “primary” energy storage member that can be used once only. The device includes a system for activating the electrical energy storage member and a device for coupling the electrical energy storage member with an electrical power supply system of the electrical machine.
Humid air turbine
The invention aims to shorten the time required for start-up and prevent excessive increases in the heat loads on turbine blades. A humid air turbine includes a compressor; a combustor; a turbine; an exhaust heat recovery unit for recovering the heat of turbine exhaust gas to generate high-temperature moisture; a fuel supply system having a fuel flow rate control valve; an exhaust temperature acquiring unit for acquiring a temperature of the exhaust discharged while the turbine is driven; a combustion gas moisture ratio calculating section for calculating a ratio of moisture contained in combustion gas; an exhaust temperature upper limit calculating section for setting an exhaust temperature upper limit based on the combustion gas moisture ratio and the pressure ratio; an exhaust temperature difference calculating section for calculating the difference between the exhaust temperature upper limit and the exhaust temperature; a fuel flow rate command value calculating section for calculating a fuel flow rate command value using the exhaust temperature difference; and a control command value output section for outputting a command signal to the fuel flow rate control valve based on the command value selected by a fuel flow rate command value selecting section.

Power assisted engine start bleed system
A system for bleeding air from a core flow path of a gas turbine engine is disclosed. In various embodiments, the system includes a bleed valve having a bleed valve inlet configured to receive a bleed air from a first access point to the core flow path and a bleed valve outlet; and an air motor having a first air motor inlet configured to receive the bleed air from the bleed valve outlet and a first air motor outlet configured to exhaust the bleed air, the air motor configured to pump the bleed air from the core flow path of the gas turbine engine.
Powerplant and related control system and method
A hydrogen fueled powerplant including an internal combustion engine that drives a motor-generator, and has a two-stage turbocharger, for an aircraft. A control system controls the operation of the motor-generator to maintain the engine at a speed selected based on controlling the engine equivalence ratio. The control system controls an afterburner, an intercooler and an aftercooler to maximize powerplant efficiency. The afterburner also adds power to the turbochargers during high-altitude restarts. The turbochargers also include motor-generators that extract excess power from the exhaust.

Apparatus and methods for authenticating cyber secure control system configurations using distributed ledgers
Control systems and methods for securely authenticating and validating a control system. The control system may include a plurality of dependent control nodes and master control nodes. Each dependent control node is communicatively coupled to one or more peripheral devices. Each control node maintains a unit level distributed ledger, where each unit level distributed ledger includes information from corresponding peripheral devices. Each control node may transmit a portion of the unit level distributed ledger to a master control node. Each master control node may maintain a system level distributed ledger that includes information from the corresponding unit level distributed ledgers. Each master node may transmit a portion of the system level distributed ledger to a central node that maintains a separate secure distributed ledger. The master node may authenticate the control system based on the received portion of the system level distributed ledgers and the secure distributed ledgers.
