Thermal management of tail cone mounted generator
A gas turbine engine includes a turbine rotor connected to a main compressor rotor. A tail cone is mounted inward of an exhaust core flow. A generator rotor is adjacent a generator stator. The generator rotor and stator are mounted within the tail cone. A passage connects a bypass flow path to the tail cone. A cooling air compressor is operable within the passage. The turbine rotor drives a shaft to drive the generator rotor and the cooling compressor. A method is also disclosed.

FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A fuel delivery system for a gas turbine engine is disclosed which includes a continuously variable drive assembly having a driving portion operatively associated with a gearbox of the gas turbine and a driven portion operatively associated with a fuel pump of the gas turbine, and a governor for controlling a drive ratio of the drive assembly to vary fuel pump flow performance over a range of engine operating conditions.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE AND METHOD OF OPERATION
The gas turbine engine can have an engine core; a core output shaft drivable by the engine core; a power output shaft; an auxiliary power shaft; and a reduction gearbox having gears, the gears drivingly connecting the core output shaft to the auxiliary power shaft. The gears can include an epicyclic gearing drivingly connecting the core output shaft and the auxiliary power shaft to the power output shaft. The gas turbine engine can further have a second auxiliary power shaft interconnected to the auxiliary power shaft, the power output shaft, and the core output shaft by the gears.

The gas turbine engine can have an engine core; a core output shaft drivable by the engine core; a power output shaft; an auxiliary power shaft; and a reduction gearbox having gears, the gears drivingly connecting the core output shaft to the auxiliary power shaft. The gears can include an epicyclic gearing drivingly connecting the core output shaft and the auxiliary power shaft to the power output shaft. The gas turbine engine can further have a second auxiliary power shaft interconnected to the auxiliary power shaft, the power output shaft, and the core output shaft by the gears.
Redundant electrically driven fuel and oil pumping system for gas turbine with bidirectional pump motor
A redundant oil and fuel pumping system for use with a gas turbine engine. The pumping system includes a plurality of power sources, a fuel system and an oil system. The fuel system pump being driven by electric motors controlled via variable frequency drives powered by the plurality of power sources. The oil system pump being driven by electric motors controlled via variable frequency drives powered by the plurality of power sources.
Cone clutch system
In some examples, a cone clutch assembly includes an inner cone member rotationally coupled to a first shaft, the inner cone member defining a first friction surface; and an outer cone member rotationally coupled to a second shaft, the outer cone member defining a second friction surface opposing the first friction surface. The inner cone member and outer cone member may be selectively engaged and disengaged from another. The inner cone member and/or the outer cone member may include a first metallic layer and a second metallic layer separated by an open structure core. The open structure core is configured to allow flow of a fluid between the first metallic layer and the second metallic layer to remove heat from the at least one of the inner cone member or the outer cone member.

A gearbox comprising a main unit comprising a first casing and a first hollow shaft, and a secondary unit comprising a second casing and a second hollow shaft, and a drive shaft comprising a first clutch portion and a second clutch portion, which engage the first and second hollow shafts in an angularly fixed and axially sliding manner. The gearbox further including an axial retaining device comprising an axial shoulder supported in a fixed potion by an axial end on one of the first or second hollow shafts, and an external radial projection arranged in an intermediate position, and an external radial projection arranged in an intermediate position along the drive shaft between the first and second clutch portions.

A turbine engine includes integrated electric machines in the compressor section and the turbine section to supplement power produced from fuel with electric power. The example compressor section includes a compressor electric motor that is coupled to a compressor generator. The example turbine section includes a turbine electric motor that is coupled to the geared architecture to supplement power driving the fan section. A turbine generator provides electric power to the turbine electric motor.
