There are describes methods and systems for operating an engine coupled to a fuel system having a fuel manifold configured to supply fuel to a combustor of the engine. The method comprises receiving a gaseous fuel flow request indicative of a change in demand for gaseous fuel to the engine; applying a fuel loss bias to the gaseous fuel flow request to obtain a biased fuel flow request, the fuel loss bias associated with a change in mass flow rate of the gaseous fuel from the fuel manifold to the combustor in response to the change in demand; and causing the gaseous fuel to flow into the combustor in accordance with the biased fuel flow request.

A fuel nozzle metering valve that includes a spool having an inlet port and an outlet flow port, and a retainer assembled to one end of the spool. A valve liner houses a portion of the spool. The spool is configured to move back and forth within the valve liner. The metering valve is biased in a closed position in which the outlet flow port is disposed entirely within the valve liner. The valve is opened when the spool slides within the valve liner such that some portion of the outlet flow port extends beyond an end of the valve liner. The retainer has a stepped portion configured to abut an end of the retainer at a fuel flow pressure below the expected maximum fuel flow pressure to be used in the fuel nozzle metering valve.

The dispatch advisor obtains a base load map for operating the power plant to meet base load power demands. The base load map includes a primary base load operating space for attaining target plant power output and efficiency, and an expanded base load portion for attaining higher plant power output and less than optimal efficiency. Both the primary base load operating space and the expanded base load portion associate power output and efficiency values of the power plant that result from a subset of operational parameter values for operating the power plant during base load. The dispatch advisor can transform the flexible base load map into one or more visualizations describing the revenue possibilities associated with operating the power plant based on operating values and attained power output and efficiency.

The method includes initializing combustion of a fuel/oxidizer mixture, determining whether conditions at the combustion system meet or exceed a first threshold operating parameter, transitioning to detonation combustion of the fuel/oxidizer mixture if conditions at the combustion system meet or exceed the first threshold operating parameter, and maintaining or increasing fuel flow through a deflagrative fuel circuit if conditions at the combustion system do not meet or exceed the first threshold operating parameter.

DUAL VALVE FLUID METERING SYSTEM

A flow metering system includes a pump configured to urge a fluid flow from a fluid source, and a recirculation line located at the pump. A pressure regulating valve is located along the recirculating line. One or more fluid delivery lines extend downstream of the pump to deliver the fluid flow to one or more fluid consumers. A flow control valve is located along each fluid delivery line of the one or more fluid delivery lines. A system controller is operably connected to the pressure regulating valve and the one or more flow control valves. The system controller is configured to maintain a selected delta pressure and a selected flow rate of the fluid flow by operation of the pressure regulating valve and the one or more flow control valves.
