A packaging assembly comprises a case configured to contain at least one injection device for delivering a medicament; a cooling unit configured to lower an internal temperature of the case; a processing arrangement; a device sensor configured to detect at least one injection device contained within the case, and to receive device storage information from the at least one detected injection device; and a data storage device. The processing arrangement is configured to record an injection history on the data storage device. The processor arrangement is configured to control the cooling unit to set an internal temperature of the case according to the received device storage information.

A hand-held or wearable device for cooling tissue of an eye of a patient is disclosed. In one aspect, the device includes a reservoir having fluid therein and a support connected to the reservoir and configured to be positioned on a face of the patient. The device also includes a nozzle positioned proximate to the support and fluidically connected to the reservoir, the nozzle configured to pass the fluid from the reservoir onto a surface of the eye. The device further includes a cooling element configured to cool the fluid from the reservoir such that it exits the nozzle at a temperature of between −100° C. and 15° C. The device further includes an ultrasonic vibrator positioned near the nozzle and configured to generate mist from at least part of the fluid.

Embodiments include a vacuum assisted venous drainage (VAVD) system, including a regulator valve assembly configured to facilitate application of vacuum to a reservoir; a control unit configured to control the regulator valve assembly to facilitate controlling application of the vacuum; at least one pressure sensor coupled to the reservoir and configured to obtain pressure measurements of pressure in the reservoir; a heating element configured to heat the regulator valve assembly to a target temperature; and at least one temperature sensor configured to determine a temperature of the regulator valve assembly.

The invention relates to an oxygenator with a housing wall, defining a housing chamber with a blood inlet and a blood outlet, a gas inlet and a gas outlet, and also with a heating element which is arranged in the oxygenator between the blood inlet and blood outlet in order to control the temperature of the blood flowing through the housing chamber. The oxygenator also comprises an electric connection and the heating element has an electric resistor which is designed as a wire. The invention also relates to a method for controlling the heat emission at the heating element of an oxygenator by measuring the flow of blood through the oxygenator and the power of a pump influencing the flow, with the heating power being adjusted in accordance therewith.

Apparatus and methods for delivering humidified breathing gas to a patient are provided. The apparatus includes a humidification system configured to deliver humidified breathing gas to a patient. The humidification system includes a vapor transfer unit and a base unit. The vapor transfer unit includes a liquid passage, a breathing gas passage, and a vapor transfer device positioned to transfer vapor to the breathing gas passage from the liquid passage. The base unit includes a base unit that releasably engages the vapor transfer unit to enable reuse of the base unit and selective disposal of the vapor transfer unit. The liquid passage is not coupled to the base unit for liquid flow therebetween when the vapor transfer unit is received by the base unit.

A skin desensitizing device for temporarily numbing and/or cooling a surface of a subject's skin. The skin desensitizing device comprises a controller, a skin-bracing interface, and at least one overloading-neural source, which includes (i) a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator (TENS)-like device capable of electrically stimulating superficial skin neurons of the subject's skin into a state of fibrillation, (ii) a thermoelectric device capable of cooling the subject's skin to approximately 30° F. to 38° F., and (iii) a vibration device capable of vibrating the subject's skin to overload the skin's vibration sensors.

An at least partly implantable system for injecting a substance into a patient's body, in particular a penis erection stimulation system, comprises one or more infusion needles disposed within and implanted along with one or more housings adjacent the patient's left and right corpora cavernosa. A reservoir and a pump are also implanted inside the patient's body to supply the infusion needle with infusion liquid. A drive unit also adapted for implantation inside the patient's body is arranged for advancing and retracting the tip end of the infusion needle such that it penetrates the housing at least in two different penetration areas either simultaneously or in immediate time succession, thereby injecting drugs along with the infusion liquid into the patient's body for stimulating penis erection. The drive unit is configured to laterally displace the tip end of at least one infusion needle in at least two different lateral directions to different penetration sites within said at least one penetration area.
